Is it possible to delete my account permanently? If so, how? Is it something I would do, or is it up to the moderator?
We could delete your account. But why?
It's easier to just not login, or not come to the website!

Just post a blatantly political opinion. Don't hold back.

Joe Liberman is dead.
It would be a shame for this person to leave.
If my guess is correct as to his identity, he is a very high profile member of the MUBB community.
Please delete my account. In my current position, it's best for me step away from all forums. This is not disapproval directed at your site at all. It's a cross-platform decision.
Appeciated.

Makes sense. Once you start being in the news regularly, you start getting worried about what you've posted in the past on forums & social media. It's a little anxiety-inducing, especially once your BoD starts discussing more thorough background checks or oppo research on the exec team to see what competitors or news agencies will turn up.
Fuckin lonely at the top.

I thought I knew who this was, but think I might be wrong, because I don't know what would have changed that would institute a desire to delete accounts.
The guy has posted his name here before. Not really sure why that's so hard to figure out.

I was just about to say, I solved this mystery in two clicks.

I can delete it, but that just gets rid of your profile. Anything you've posted (and your username) stays. If you want to wipe that clean, you'll need to go back and modify all your previous posts prior to losing the ability to log in!
And it won't clean up anything that others have quoted from you. The Internet remembers a lot.

Years of history with personal information accidentally or purposefully shared. Tying together your government name with your screen name that you may have used other places on the internet.
It's just not worth it.
Plus if you're not getting weird porn from Scoop then I'm sorry to say you're not getting the best DMs.

Which is why I say him editing all his 220 posts is a better option than account deletion.

I'm aware. But was wondering if for whatever reason that was incorrect, as I don't see why they would need to suddenly scrape the internet of their posts. Especially since their posts were very innocuous.

Ah that makes sense. Account deletion doesn't modify post contents.
just tell all of your superiors and powers that be NOT TO LOOK AT SCOOP
problem solved
or use one of those online personality cleaner-up'ers
gee, from their commercials, they could get chuck Manson out of prison
Got Keefe'd.
Unless I hear otherwise, in 5 days I will delete your account. But do please note the ramifications noted in this thread.
Sent a PM as well.
