Title: Is musk now political?
Post by: rocky_warrior on November 18, 2024, 08:34:03 PM
This is a tricky one for me.

Several businesses that the US now relies upon.  Also very obviously (recently?) political.

I don't think asking for Twitter alternatives is particularly political (though there may be some political motivation).  Though I do think those pimping Twitter advertisers are politically motivated.

How does a person attempting to be well reasoned deal with this?

(I've pointed out elsewhere, I've been a Twitter hater since it's inception)

And despite my recent no-tolerance policy, I'm not trying to trap people.  All votes and reasonable responses accepted.

Heck, even Real Chili is political!

I've been threatened with the ban hammer (and worse) for my view that RC is crap in a bowl. If we can't civilly disagree on Real Chili, Elon Musk is going boil Scoopers' blood!

Back to Rocky's original question...

I think it would be fine if he was just a guy with government contracts hanging out with politicians.  The whole being in charge of cutting the government spending at the same time, however, makes those organizations pretty political now.

Weird eccentric billionaire offering his sperm to any woman that asks, demands we all have children, and is petty? Not political.

Weird eccentric billionaire offering a lottery to vote for his guy, cutting a ton of jobs, spreading misinformation and talking about union busting with the now president? Political.

I've regrettably been in Real Chili, but would be happy to never do so again.  It is still better than Skyline, though.

I tried Skyline for the first time when MU was in Columbus.  In no way can it compete with Real Chili but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting based on what I had heard.  It tasted like Christmas.  I just don't want my chili tasting like Christmas.

I say we revive the politics board, but only for one day a year.  Like The Purge, everyone gets one day a year to get off all your political takes, jabs, insults...but then the other 364 the place is ruled by the Iron Fist of the Comrade Mods.

The minute Musk started talking about free speech he became political for many Scoopers. Now that he'll be involved in the administration and openly supports Trump multiply it by 100.

The sad but true situation is that a whole bunch of interesting topics for discussion that once only touched politics tangentially can no longer be discussed civilly because ..politics.

Yeah miss me with his free speech crap.  He's openly censored whomever he wants for whatever nebulous reason he dreams up.  And for as much as Jack complied with the government's request Elon did even more.

His free speech turned twitter into a platform that is fine with open Nazis and pornography.
