As we've done each of the last 3 years, got a chance to speak with Nevada Smith at length and pick his brain on a whole host of subjects.

On offensive rebounding: "We're going to crash. We're going to be a better offensive rebounding team than we were last year. We're doing a great job of it right now, in the preseason, it's an emphasis every day, and we're going to be better at it. We're doing a better job of reading the ball, we're doing a better job of crashing when the ball releases a shooter's hand, and our guys are bought into what it does for us as a team. It slows the opponent down the transition, and it gives us more chances to score. So I think they've, they've really done a great job of knowing that that's, you know, low hanging fruit for us, and they've attacked it."
Enjoyed this. Thx!
HELL yeah
One way to interpret this is that the coaching staff thinks they're going to miss more shots.
Nice article - thanks! Hope our offensive rebounding improvement in practice isn't due to poor defensive rebounding by our other guys on the floor.

I think that is accurate as they are looking to take more 3's. I would imagine math tells us that crashing the glass will make much more sense this year than it did in the last two years.

I'm pretty sure he said the same thing last year when interviewed......or one of the other coaches did.
Great article. Thank you.

Great article.
Re: Rebounding maybe this is a case of Nevada is not the guy to talk rebounding with. It's like asking MLF about defense.
I don't think his answers engender a lot of confidence.
