For those who have been waiting, a scathing rebuke of the Secret Service in Butler and in general. https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/17/politics/trump-assassination-independent-review-secret-service/index.html
Thank you for your service. I was, indeed, waiting on the edge of my seat for this.

Yeah, I don't believe this report. I saw on Facebook and InfoWars that this was a deep state plot to take out Trump and the Secret Service was infiltrated by the Illuminati to make this happen.
They're blaming the Secret Service so they can replace the ones fighting the deep state.
There are a lot of words and case study talk in there but this is the craziest part:
Quote"The Secret Service has become bureaucratic, complacent, and static even though risks have multiplied and technology has evolved," the panel wrote in its report released Wednesday.
Evolved? they let a dude get on the roof with sight of a former President carrying one of the most popular, mainstream US weapons.
It was just a collosal F up. A person is dead bc they didn't do what 100% of Scoopers would have done...secure the perimeter.

but what about his second amendment rights?

I think they saved the gun, thankfully.
Good
If the report is true, accurate and unbiased, then accountability for action/inaction will hopefully improve things moving forward

Oh, sorry, I thought it was pretty obvious that the Secret Service massively effed up. The head resigned, over this, in fact!

Maybe to you. Several here initially defended the SS, others were on the fence awaiting more information. I don't recall your position but I do know JB called it from the beginning and took plenty of grief here for it.

There weren't many defending the SS. There were some who implied that it may have been an inside job though - I am assuming this report didn't say that. Most people said that they should just let the investigation run its course.
And there were those blaming Joy Reid.

I didn't say anything about it since I wasn't around, and by the time I saw the thread it was locked. Looking back at the thread (you can do this) the first message from JayBee said "Current regime's SS. Scary. This country needs a leader, not a sleeper". Most of the SS folks are LIFERS and not appointed by any administration. Is there evidence they intended for Trump to be killed? Nope. Yet, that is what JayBee was insinuating. The people of the SS are 100% to blame, but there is nothing partisan about it.
You're welcome to dig through 13 pages to prove any of the nonsense you do or don't remember. Just be genuine about what you're saying since you seem to have so much trouble remembering important facts and communicating your thoughts.
I predicted a deep dive and serious self criticism.

Stop lying. I never insinuated anything close to that. My point was simply that the secret service had royally effd up and this country needs a leader, not someone taking naps and pooping his pants — hell, I can do that.
My comment was met with "I draw the line" nonsense from a mod, whining that the secret service should not be disparaged.
Please stop with the lies.
Cheatle was appointed by Biden. You can read his statement at whitehouse.gov... "I am pleased to announce I have selected Kim Cheatle to be the next Director of the United States Secret Service".

Then why say that it was the "
Current regime's SS"? What would the point of this statement be?
Just that Biden appointed the head? She is certainly to blame since she is ultimately in charge, but insinuating that a career SS agent who worked under both parties since '95 was part of a 'regime' is introducing partisanship into a situation that had none. Biden kept Trumps SS director around for a year and a half, and Trump kept Obama's around for a year after taking office.
These are not partisan appointments. These folks are rarely fired, and usually retire as director.
Why did the gal appointed by Biden step down? Why did so many demand that she be outta there?

Well a President almost got assassinated. It was a huge eff up. As I've said. Someone had to go so it was the director. That just makes sense.
You're ignoring my questions though.
Since it seems to rankle JB, I maintain the secret service agents performed their job admirably that day to protect the former president's life. They should be commended for their actions.
The reports indicate they could make some procedural improvements, and I'm sure they'll take that into consideration.

After the guy got off 6-8 rounds. They were lucky Trump wasn't killed. That is not protecting the former President or any protectee admirably.

Prior to that he was a good guy with a gun though. Can't automatically assume he was a bad guy that'd infringe on his rights.
Beyond the SS f*ck up it's sickening how much Trump loves the attempt.
Transcipt from his Univision appearance...
QuotePR: And talking about God. I know that there's such a change in a lot of ways your your point of view about life and the purpose of this campaign. Can you describe a little bit how that changed for you after this incident for you in Pennsylviania?
DT: Well, the odds of that happening the way it happened, I mean, it was obviously a serious shot. It got me pretty good, but, relatively minor compared to what could have been if it weren't for, like, an eighth of an inch. Literally an eighth of an inch. Can you believe that? And so I feel very good about things. And you really, you really do believe somebody is watching over you and something like that happens. It was a close enough distance that people that are shooters would say that, they called it the equivalent of a two foot putt. And, so I got very lucky and I had somebody protecting me, I believe.
Not one mention of the gentleman who was killed. A family lost a dad, a husband, a son. And he just rambles on about how the shooter missed a 2 foot putt. Disgusting.
You sound more distraught than DT who was shot at.
Get help.

Nobody was watching over that poor guy. Or even worse, the all-seeing and all-knowing deity musta wanted that guy to die. But the lord almighty sure was watching over the serial adulterer, pathological liar and adjudicated sexual assaulter. Yep.

The fact I hold my public servants to a certain level and criticize them for otherwise is not indicative of some derangement syndrome. I was as passionate about getting rid of Clinton when his lack of moral compass ran roughshod over the West Wing. Did I have CDS then? Or do I simply want to see a certain decorum from our CIC?
I would say that a guy who had an assassination attempt on him with a bullet that grazed his ear can tell his experience of it and if you can criticize that, what makes you immune to criticism? Such a fragile ego.

I guess it's my fragile ego that I'm bothered he campaigns endlessly off his heroism of surviving the attempt while nearly paying homage to the guy who lost his life. Most missed 2 foot putts don't kill.
Ok, you both had your final say. Now read this.

My God, the exchange you cited, Trump was asked specifically how it changed HIM. I know we've grown accustomed to the cackler never answering questions, but Trump answered the question posed to him.
Not to mention he's spoken with the widow, she attended the rally when he returned to Butler, he honored Corey early in his RNC speech. He's talked about Corey a lot in the aftermath.
