Title: [Cracked Sidewalks] Georgia Preview
Post by: brewcity77 on September 17, 2024, 07:20:09 AM
Marquette heads to Atlantis to take on a Georgia team led by a blossoming star in Silas Demary and a five star big in Asa Newell. Is this matchup of potential tourney teams a sign of non-con tournaments to come? Today we break down Mike White's Bulldogs.

I don't think you do, but I think we can limit his impact just like we did to Queen and TKR. Run zone to force them into long shots, hound the guards to deny him the ball, and send guards and wings to crash the glass in order to minimize his ability to score on putbacks. Basically, mix in everything we've done the past few games.

Thx Brew.  Do you think Georgia is a tournament team?  I liked what Shaka said after the Purdue game.  We really haven't shot it great ,but have still been quite successful.  I believe in Jop, Gold, as well as our bench players.  We are capable of elevating our play and moving towards medieval level performances.

They could be, but the SEC is a gauntlet this year. At the moment, I expect them to be right around the bubble come March.

Purdue is a better team, but Georgia will be right up there with Maryland on the road as Marquette's toughest test so far.

Newell, Godfrey, and Cyril will be a problematic trio up front for Marquette to handle.

Marquette has the advantage in the back court but Georgia does have some athletes in that regard as well. Should be a fun game and I can't wait to watch the highlights after the game is over 🙄

Just looked through one of their message boards.

Joplin: "He doesn't shoot it much from 3, or well based on stats. He is a great on ball defender."

If I were to write a Joplin summary 2 weeks ago before the 1st game, it would be whatever the exact opposite of that is.
