US New Rankings coming out soon. Last year MU was a solid 86.
What is the Scoop Prediction for this years ranking?
I think with our current strategy we stay between high 70s and mid 80s. We'd need to add a med school or have a huge jump in their KPIs to get to the next notch up.
77
69, hey?
Safely below DePaul's RPI.
ND sucks
The WSJ rankings that came out last week had MU at 55 and UW Madison at 73.

We're strong in their "salary impact score". 95.
People are saying that if we're not #1, it's rigged.
Take Dayton's 25 to it :(
From what I understand, Marquette's freshman class was about 10% larger than the year's prior.
Marquette retained a record number of last year's freshman to their sophomore Fall - over 91%. That shows that they are doing a great job recruiting students that can succeed at the school, and have done a wonderful job giving those students a sense of place on campus.
That figure, I would guess, blows a lot of their competitors' out of the water. Excellent work by the school.
Way more important than any ranking honestly. Glad they are promoting the hell out of it.

Considering at least 7% were shot dead, that's a big win

And by dental schools students, to boot.

Good to see the university adopting Shaka's methods on a larger scale.

any concrete numbers for the incoming class yet? MU should have hit its census date by now.
And how are we doing with residential students? I know one of the reasons O'D closed was they didn't need it due to more local commuter students enrolling.

Not saying it has anything to do with O'Ds but I saw reports this year that drinking was down for 20 somethings. Hitting the brewers and distillers materially.

I don't have 10 day numbers, but I have no reason to believe they are substantially different.

O'D as in O'Donnell Hall, not the bar. I know they closed it a few years ago due to not needing it and the basement is being used as the rec center while Helfaer is being rebuilt. I have friends, family, and coworkers who have kids at state schools where dorms are overcrowded due to large incoming classes.

Well, when I would tell my dad I was "at The Gym" it wasn't to play pick up ball, LOL!
My son is a HS senior, so we're in the thick of early applications and campus tours.
We toured 9 schools .. MU's tour was in the upper half, but we got in the car and he said "yeah, sorry, I'm not going there." He wants to get out of the Milwaukee area, I can't blame him.
We toured UW .. he wanted a sweatshirt, but I made him buy that with his own money as my retinas were burning in the Badger shop. It's his safety school. :-\

Attending UW-Madison will help Marquette's cause

Out of curiosity, what other schools is he looking at? And wherever he goes, I'm sure he'll still be rooting for MUBB
My wife and I have been talking up MU to her niece who is a junior in HS. Unfortunately, her mom is a professor at a Big Ten school and a Hahvahd grad (as is her dad) and they won't even let my wife take her to visit MU...but she's going to take her anyway. ;D
Good on your wife. Sounds like she knows Harvard is doomed

Kinda off/on topic, but somehow the Harvard Crimson is part of my Google news feed, and they are so damn critical of their own university. You would think "Harvard is doomed" based upon their own newspaper.
Perhaps it is more noble and enlightened to criticize than to acknowledge success?

Alternatively, students doing investigative journalism are setting themselves up for future jobs with those stories.
Puff pieces don't have the same impact on a resume. ;D

He's a casual sports fan, which is odd since he went to about 20 mubb games/year as an infant/kid sitting on our laps. I guess Wojo claimed another victim.
He's got a list of ~20 schools, applying to ~5 in the early period. MIT, Michigan, Purdue, UW, and maybe Stanford. Maybe Notre Dame too.
Very smart kid, but we get it, there are lots of smart kids out there. He's got a shot.
Fingers crossed that UW is Washington

The sister was once trying (well, more than once, it's her M.O.) to big time us about having gone to Hahvahd and my response to her was "have you ever been able to watch your alma mater in the Final Four? No? We win."
Marquette is at 86.
Apologies if this is the best place to post, but I was curious what people think of Lake Forest College? Does it have a strong reputation? My child is exploring it and we don't live in the Midwest

Decent liberal arts college with a good reputation - similar to about a dozen other colleges in the midwest. Pretty campus, but kind of tucked away in a suburb.

Yeah lake forest is like whitefish bay on steroids. But the college is good and very pretty campus.

Should have also asked...is she planning on being a student athlete? The reason I ask is they have a good reputation as a lower-level D3 athletic program.
Yes. Looking to play a sport too.
Thanks for the responses.

Now you're being ridiculous.
LOL! I like it!
As to LFC, my daughter went there and graduated 9 years ago. Played basketball all 4 years. Hockey is big there. Have a rink on campus. Very strong in handball, of all sports. It's a good liberal arts school especially if planning on staying in Chicago area. Have had grads in high level positions in both the City of Chicago and Cook County. It's a very nice campus in a very exclusive suburb. Nice well maintained safe campus. Pretty good scholastic and vocational counseling. My daughter appreciated her time there very much. She's been back several times for career days since graduation. Back then LFC took $10k off tuition for all Illinois residents which was nice. Hope this helps.
Thank you!
I really appreciate it!
