I usually keep all these in a spreadsheet, so wanted to share it in a way it would be more accessible to anyone curious. Lots of fun data and charts.

Hard to believe that MU paid Wojo $10 million over 2 years to not coach the team. What a terrible travesty and mis-management of cash. And Ewing, what a humdinger that deal was. Some people are laughing all the way to the bank.

To be honest, I'm thrilled they paid Wojo to go away and not coach the team. Definitely prefer Shaka on our bench over Wojo.

In Washington, it's "one person", not "some people."
Good spot for that old joke....
Why are divorces so expensive?
Because they are worth it.
Shaka's salary seems low. They can't be correct

Yes, but the cost of inaction was far greater.

He may have deferred compensation for whatever reason. I don't think that would be spelled out here.

2022 Shaka was just over 2M, he was bumped up to nearly 3M in 2023. My guess is deferred comp and also does not take into account the extension moving forward, which I assume will give him nice yearly bumps in pay.

I would assume Shaka will get a big raise, when we are done paying Wojo.
Wojo looks pretty smart to me.
Shaka got paided by texas in his first few years so its just a deffered payment, and then they gave him a raise on top of that. he will be paid.

I didn't think Shaka got anything from Texas when he left. I know he would have been owed about $7 million had he been fired, but did they negotiate something else since Marquette just hired him?

As I recall, Texas waived the buy out to let Marquette hire him. Details feel a bit fuzzy, though.
In in the end, its pretty irrelevant. Shaka got what he wanted from MU and is happy. MU is happy with him and will do what they can to keep him.

buyout isn't salary.
I know it isn't. But it's still reportable compensation at a public institution like Texas.

I think you are right. This is the first time I ever heard speculation that Texas paid Shaka for leaving or after leaving. I think the good part of him leaving was MU didn't have to pay Texas.

I'm gonna harbor a guess that Wright isn't the name they showed up to Ellis Island with
