Title: Aker = unsung hero of the game
Post by: Detfan23 on February 25, 2008, 08:11:01 PM
Obviously James played great, but we got a little extra from Aker tonight.  Great job gentlemen.

Acker's best game at MU.  He scored early and often when we needed him. No garbage points tonight.

Mo Better (Baby) Blues...huge game off the bench to keep the guard pressure on Nova.  Great guard match-up game, and MU's seized the day!  Best 2nd half of the year.  TC must have said a mouthful at half.

No doubt about that.  Marquette outscores Nova 53-36 in the second half to win this game going away.

Agreed on Acker's play - the stats don't show that his 12 points were all desperately needed when he scored them.  Excellent performance in Philly tonight.

Agreed to all above, I think Acker showed tonight he is capable of being a starting PG (not saying a star or anything) in the BE.

Not so sure he is a starting guard due to his size; but, he certainly can be a big ime contributor.  :)

Acker had a terrific game - and when he and James were on the floor together we were tough - especially the way they both shot 3s (2-3 for Acker, 5 - 9 for James).
Great game to watch - exciting and scary at times.  Big win and acker was a big part of it with his 12 points

Yup.  I've hated all the smack about "leads evaporating" and poor play when Acker is in for DJ.  Anecdotal at best.

Loved to see Mo get going tonight.   You don't have Acker tonight, you don't leave Philly with a W.

Everyone, I love the kudos for Acker. He's only going to get better.

Now, show your support by buying  his shirt! (http://shop.marquette.edu/Basketball_2_Tee_p/16203.htm)

Wanted to throw my kudos into the ring.  I was very impressed by Acker's strong performance today.  He hit some nice shots and played great D.  That jumper from 3 feet inside the top of the key is something that's going to be open at times going forward and it was nice to see him step up and knock it down once.  A great game for a kid who I hope continues to get better and better.

The broken ankle he gave the Nova defender at halfcourt with a few ticks left on the clock was straight from an And 1 Mix Tape episode.  I replayed that move 4-5 times, and loved hearing Raftery's little "ohhh".

Tremendous poise by Acker last night.  I'm always pulling for him.

aKer just needs to play with confidence, though undersized the kid can produce, i think he just needs a little more positive thinking...but a great game by him.
