Houston is quite accustomed to hurricane season.

Carla, Harvey, Alicia, and Ike have been among our worst...

....Beryl wont even qualify as a blip. We only lost power here this time for 12 hours

The routine is always the same:

Store extra water, backup generators and power packs to recharge devices, canned foods, and candles.  We only lost power here this time for 12 hours; I just napped

Best part is we get "snow" days...days to just shelter in place, no work expected and no snow shoveling...but your yard will need big time tree limb cleanup. You'll likely need fence repair/replacement, as almost all of us have 6 ft cedar board privacy fences that simply blow away.

I hope you come out of this without too much damage or hassle.

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen an electric or hybrid vehicle out on the roads during snow or rain. Good call on that!

Yes, because ICE vehicles never get stuck, never have flood damage, never have ruined engines after getting stuck in floods.

I'm pro asbestos. Asbestos is a god-created mineral, it would be a sin to not use it to protect us from fire which is man-made and sinful. You're not trying to cancel quartz, or feldspar are you? Curious.

50/50 Texas or Florida allows use of DDT in the near future.  It would help eradicate bald eagles again since they've become a nuisance bird, so might not be all bad

Quartz, like EVs, doesn't work when it is wet outside.

"It's obvious when an eagle has killed your bird: The chicken is laid out on her back, wings spread, legs intact, breast and organs devoured. (Like many of its fellow Americans, the bald eagle apparently prefers white meat.)"

Speaking of staying safe in Texas, don't send your kids to megachurches.  They may end up seducing the pastors with their wily, childish seductive ways

As soon as Texas gets billions in federal aid for this latest natural disaster, they're gonna secede.

And they mean it this time, dammit!

As long as Texas keeps electing the same people, natural disasters will continue to be poorly planned for and poorly handled.

Well, they've been known to control the weather and utility companies.

Anyway, Texas also takes a lot of federal money for that, too.  Weird for a state so proud of getting things done, well, at least with policing women's reproductive rights.
