A lot of candidates. Kam would've had he been able to stay on the court. Jop was huge but also got lit up. Chase was huge off the bench.
Think I go Kolek though, even with the turnover issues.
Gotta be TKO. But a huge honorable mention to Jop. Monster game.
Tyler Kolek
Honorable Mention
Chase Ross
Kolek. He was incredible.
Honorable mentions: Jop with those massive FTs, Kam's first half.
TKo
Not Oso lmao
Scoop first. Award 2. Gotta be Kolek and Jop. Hadn't been an MU player since Wade to get 15, 5 and 5 in a tournament game. Kolek has done it now two games in a row.
Joplin's clutch FTs and his defense were fantastic.
Tyler, but man Chase was freaking awesome!!!
Forgot to mention Chase was huge today as well.
Tyler is our All-American.
Chase was also great.
It's Tyler. No doubt. Every time we needed a play, he made it or created it or grabbed the rebound. What a stud.

Not Oso lmao
Oso was solid. Not SOTG though. Stepped up and guarded De Silva to slow him a touch at least.
Chase Ross.
(mostly a team win though)
I have to go with Kolek, but I said this earlier in the thread. MU doesn't win without him, what a game by Ross.
No foul issues for the starters, can't have the usual offensive scoring droughts and I hope Oso and Ross are contributing factors. I say Ross because he is just way overdue for a big game/difference maker. Let's hope Shaka can coach them up to a win.
Good for Joplin, he went from potential goat(that two on one fiasco) to free throws of the year.
TyKo.
Kolek. Im so proud of the guys for getting this far. Oh yeah, and the Scoopers for their support I guess.
Dont over think this. Its Tk
Special fu cking player
Kolek.
We don't win this game without Chase.
Kolek
Honorable mention: Joplin was huge. Two huge free throws and a couple of huge boards.
And Chase Ross
Kolek
Jop with big balls on the FTs.
Tyler kept us within ourselves.
Jop had the most well-rounded game of his career.
Chase with the biggest fckin domino you've ever seen
Massive bounceback game by Chase too. I was pretty down on him yesterday, but what an epic response and game. No wonder Shaka awarded him the "big balls" after Big East tournament game with his 3 dagger.
Damn straight it's Joplin.
Biggest MU free throws in decades. I had visions of Ric Cobb in 1969 but Joplin vanquished that bad dream!
Without Jop, no Dallas!
Jop...
Clutch free throws and a nasty slam, plus all those minutes....
Deserving imo
Tyler Kolek, of course. But Chase and Jop were both huge in this game.
Kolek for sure but legit contenders in Jop and Chase
Tyler with great contributions from Chase and Jop.
Brookfield Central's finest and a big time effort from Chase. DFJ with massive stones at the end
Man, tk was great - but we don't win without Chase playing his best game of the year
Kolek in team win
TKO ! ! ! even tho Jop with the KO ! ! ! 8-)
Kolek.
Kolek. Took shots at the end of game when it looked like others were scared.
Clutch all around game.
Honorable mentions: Chase, Jop free throws, Kam first half scoring
Chase Ross was outstanding and Jop was great, but the AA drives the fxxking bus.
Kolek and nobody else was close.
Huge minutes from Chase though and Jop's energy was great, even though he got beat a bunch he also created turnovers.
Kam was awesome while he was on the floor
Chase was so huge today but have to go with TK. They had no answer for him.
I want to change my vote to the dreadlock Rastas who were soldiers against the Buffaloes
...fightin' for survival...
Because every little thing
Gonna be alright
1. Tyler for a great all-around game as usual plus the biggest drive & basket of the season.
2. Joplin for the clutch free throws to put the game away
3. Chase for the huge 3
4.Kam for all the points, but not all the silly fouls.
Kolek led team in points, assists and rebounds. A no brainer. Kudos to Ross and Jop for stepping up. And an honorable mention to GooolllldBrick for hitting a huge 3 late.
Man...idk.
I'll say Joplin because everything all of us complained about all year, didn't exist today. He was great.
Tre Norman for his excellent work on the locker room boom box.
Without question Tyler.
TKO, clearly.
Jop with the rare clutch FTs.
Chase with huge gonads on those 3's. Gotta credit Skaka for instilling the sort of confidence for a Soph to take those without hesitation even atter a few shaky games.
Kolek, obviously.
Great overall game by Chase, Kam was very good in the first half, and Joplin for knocking down huge FTs to close it out.
Kolek goes for 21 and 11 while playing the full 40.
There is no other...
It's got to be TKO but we are checking a lot of deep run bingo boxes with Jop and Chase picking up oso and Kam.
That game is what many thought Chase was capable of—great time to prove it! I never thought Jop could be such a valuable defender. Just awesome.

Tre Norman for his excellent work on the locker room boom box.
From the 70's, we're still around and we Rember.
Good omen, and on national t.v. post game .
Hay Tre, bring it to every game.
1977 was the year, 2024 is the year.
It has been a loooong time between years.
TKo, Chase played very well though.
Kolek is the stud. Terrific all game and made the clutch shot when we were up 1.
HM
Jolp for ice in his veins at the FT line.
Ross was terrific on both ends and hit a huge 3.
Kam, great first half but some dumb fouls nearly cost us.
well yeah, Tyler kolek'em kolek
and remember, free throws no matta (get the f outta here)
Tyler Kolek

Think I go Kolek though, even with the turnover issues.
We watched a different game. Huge contribution from Chase. Big plays by Jop, yes.
But as a candidate, TKO in a landslide, running unopposed.
Kolek.
With a big thanks to Jop and Ross.
What a weekend. So great having Tyler back.
One of the few games this year where we do NOT win without Chase Ross. Loved his contributions. Hope to see more of it in Dallas

Vogue, nice to have you back and posting
Easy, TK
Tyler.
Chase Ross the Boss as the honorable mention. Jop two for the clutch free throws.
Tyler start to finish
It's insane to think that Tyler basically has to drop a triple double before getting a consensus stud of the game.
I love the way the rest of the guys gutted that one out, but it is Tyler running away.
Hards
I have said it many times, TK has spoiled many fans to the point of them thinking 21/11/6 in a big game is par for the course. He is an exceptional college basketball player and MU will go as far as TK can take them. He makes every single player better every time he is on the court.
We all need to have a bigger talk about Kolek's place in Marquette history now that he has led this program back to Sweet 16 territory.
For now ... he was obviously SoG for this game. Thankfully, he got great help from Ross and Jop.
1. Tyko.
2. The Dude.
3. Jolp.

If TK and the team accomplishes their goal, 11 will be in the rafters of the FF. I stand by assessment that he is the second best player post AL, only behind DWade. Other guys may have better post MU careers, but none have played better at MU aside from DWade, imo.

Too big a subject to go into here, Goose. I just started a new thread.
Getting ready to board my flight home from Indy, so we'll see how that goes!
Ross' best game in a MU uniform, IMO.
Jop very good.
Kam great while on the floor, but 3 of his 4 fouls were kinda dumb and cost him important minutes.
Tyko a few more Tos than I would have liked, but obvious SOTG.
TyKo.
This team did not have a Batman and Robin over the two games in Indy, however.
It had two Batmen.
Tyler with 39, 22, 11 in 78 minutes played on 17/27 shooting, 2/6 from 3.
Kam with 46, 6, 3 in 58 minutes on 17/29 shooting, 9/20 from 3.
It's easy to get upset with Kam for committing silly fouls, but unfortunately he got caught up in the moment. The reason we were so upset is because of his superstar value while on the court.
To look at it another way, had he not gotten those fouls he could've ended up with 55+ pts in 2 games in Indy, on extremely efficient shooting.
I'd like to see him get more involved on the glass and in distribution in the next mini tournament in Dallas before Phoenix comes along.
He was doing it while Tyler was out, no reason he can't or shouldnt while he's playing. I know Oso was hobbled, but I'd also like to see him get more ball handling duties like during the non TyKo days.
This team is elite with the ball in Tyler's hands, but letting Kam and Oso have their share gives teams a lot more to worry about and keeps the wiz kid fresh for the end of game.
As an aside- Chase Ross contribution was the stuff future studs are made of.
I've noticed with him that when he makes his first shot heading towards the hoop it completely skyrockets his confidence.
We talked about those injuries being a silver lining in a sense that the role players would be more first team ready when needed, and we saw it play out in real time. Both Benny but especially Chase were ready for the big time yesterday, and Marquette needed every penny to advance.
PSS- David Joplin, that summer program came to life right in front of our very eyes. Talk about being shot out of a cannon.
Doc-agree with your post, but in the future please use Chase's AKA that Shaka bestowed upon him...Big Balls. Thanks.
The mods always pick the guy with the stat line that hasn't been matched in NCAA tournament history for 30 years....lazy. ;D
I am really going to miss this guy when he's off to other pursuits.

Jerry Burns, the old Vikings coach, loved using the nickname "Big Nuts" for numerous people.
