Right, but it's not supposed to work that way! Lol

It gave my a laugh that I had to refresh twice to read this thread.  It's all good!  I won't send you any less money for my subscription than I have for all these years.

I'm going to need a refund.

How else is one supposed to get dentist approved posts?

Clearly WKU DoS attack. They know scoop is like Sampsons hair. Cut it off and MUBB loses its fantastic strength.

There was moment of tin foil hat thoughts where I considered that that could be what happened

Honestly...something happened out of the ordinary yesterday.  We were seeing abnormally high database connection requests (30-70), but also, the server was set to a far lower maximum connection number than it can actually handle.   I've bumped the connection limit up, and today we're only seeing 1-10 connection requests.

(database connections only last for a fraction of a second and then disappear)

So maybe it was a semi-succesful DoS.  Donno.  We should be good to go now though.

Clearly Russian, Chinese & Iranian governments plan to use Scoop this election cycle. They'll pose as MU dentists, perfect cover.

Like you said, connection requests can climb quickly if they're close to timing out. I've seen it happen when someone was running what should be an overnight report or stats during the day on prod (this was quite a while ago, mind you). Maybe the LLM you're training on Scoop data is sucking up the resources?

Recent surveys have shown that around half of evangelical men under age 30 use pornography at least weekly, according to Samuel Perry, author of
"Addicted to Lust: Pornography in the Lives of Conservative Protestants."

Ha! You thought if you joked about it, we would disregard.

I don't believe that study.  There isn't any evidence Conservative Protestants are perverts.  They read the Bible, pal.

This is just a by-product of success. People overload the site because everyone wants that little piece of Marquette shine.
Title: Re: Site problems...
Post by: rocky_warrior on March 25, 2024, 09:22:01 AM
Sadly it's not an overload issue.  This particular problem appears to be an aging hardware issue.  But because upgrades take time, we're trying to keep the ol' thing going until May.

You really need to collect the late dues from the scoop deadbeats here so you can go shopping for new equipment. It's not fair when I send in my dues on time, and they don't!

This just in:

The Obamacare MUScoop website goes down for software hardware fix. Government Scoop technology experts took the main health insurance website down overnight Monday to try to fix the problems that have kept millions of people from signing up for new plans logging in, but ran into more serious problems than anticipated. The site www.healthcare.gov was out of order until mid-morning Tuesday, creating another big public relations headache for the Obama administration's the Scoop moderators.
