Title: [Cracked Sidewalks] Bracketology: Selection Sunday Final
Post by: brewcity77 on March 17, 2024, 04:12:27 PM
Was up until close to midnight watching games, and been up since 5 am scrubbing and evaluating. I'll probably get bit for keeping Indiana State in the field, but I think the warts for Virginia and Oklahoma really come through when you compare those teams head to head. Honestly, I'm just glad to rest. Bring on the Selection Show!

An MSU rematch in the Rd of 32 is inevitable isn't it?

Thanks for the hard work brew.

Rest up, busy night and week ahead.

It's pretty wild that we've discussed the BE getting anywhere from 4-6/7 bids for weeks- I got some slack for suggesting several weeks ago that it's a 4 bid league.
No one would ever dream it's only a 3 bid league.
I still refuse to believe it, and I'm pretty certain SH or StJ ends up in the first4 at worst. I think it should be SH, but I think the committee will make it StJohns if only one of the two get there.

FWIW I can still see both making it, but I think Providence has a longer shot but is also close as we all know.

As for Indiana state- I really appreciate your work but yea yuck.
I guess it would be cool to see the kid from oak forest play in the dance.

Most important of all, let's land Indy and get a good for Marquette draw.

I actually said it was a 3 bid league right at conference play started and I got my head ripped off.

Very interesting read 15 Min before the reveal.

3-BE so disappointing if so.

WEST- surprise but ok here. We can win that West Bracket.

We'll see in minutes...

I mean, it took an unprecedented 5 bid thieves to make this happen (if it does happen).

It was really the (im)perfect storm.

I still think st Johns gets in at play in game minimum

I think youve been told about 15 times the committee will not do that unless there is literally no other option

Brew has said that that isn't remotely true.

FAU, if playing their A game, could be tough. They have a big tough center, and a dynamic guard.

How did you come to this conclusion?  Every one I've is talking about how difficult their bracket is compared to the other #1s.

Also curious, Brew, if this was more or less enjoyable for you than a normal year given all the chaos over the past few days.  I would have to imagine some of the seemingly inconsistent and selective use of different factors for different teams is a tad frustrating when trying to predict where the committee will land.

Regardless, thank you for the effort and insights these past few weeks.  Your articles have definitely kept me better informed of what is likely to transpire and why.

In terms of score, my worst since 2019, but everyone I talk to is posting personal worsts, so I'm waiting until tomorrow for the rankings. I had 67/68 teams (Indiana State for Virginia), 43 exact seeds, 61 within 1 line. The Mountain West was a killer, 3 of my 6 two-line misses were MWC teams.

For context, out of 408 possible points, last year's average was 356. I haven't seen a single person at 356 yet and at least two previous champions are sub-350. I believe I'm at 345, but that was just my quick one-pass calculation.

It wouldn't surprise me if my score was worse but my ranking better. This year was brutal for bracket nerds.
