Coming down to the wire for 2nd place in the BE Reg season. Really want to claim 2nd to avoid UCONN until the BE final. Of the 3 of SH, Creighton and MU the Jays have the easiest remaining schedule with their 2 tough games at home. That said they are 2 back of us in the loss column. SH plays the Jays tonight. I assume we are rooting for the Jays. That would give SH another loss and assuming the lose @UCONN if we just hold serve in the 2 games we'd be favored to win we finish ahead of them.
Thoughts?
Go Hall
We want the 2/3 with Hall.
Send Creighton over to a semi final date with UConn.
One added thought is that playing the Hall at MSG makes it a defacto home game for them.

Seton Hall doesn't even have nightly crowds in their actual arena.
Creighton with UConn and Hall with us is objectively a far better outcome
We played Uconn at the Garden last year. It doesn't get crazier than that.

We need to play the games with attitude to crush
If we win our final 4 Im very confident we will be the 1 seed in the conference tournament.
Just don't somehow fall to 4 and we're fine
I'm with you, JayBee. Need to take care of the games we should win and hopefully win one other game.

I think the average fan at the Garden is fickle and Seton Hall benefitted from having NYC-area players having big games that the crowd got behind (Powell). It doesn't have anything to do with Seton Hall specifically.
If TK has 18 assists and Kam has 30+ points. Those folks will cheer for us too.
I might eat my words for this come Saturday, but I'd rather play Creighton than a healthy Seton Hall team.
I'm with JayBee. MU is better than Creighton on a neutral court and Seton Hall on a neutral court. MU won't do this but the concern would be coming in fourth and having to face UConn in the semi final.
If the guys can somehow win three of these four games, it is a great end to the season. But, the game at Creighton is going to be a tough one, and the X game in Cincinnati will be a lot more challenging than the game they just played.
The good thing about a 2 or 3 seeds is that its a Thursday evening game. So I'm good with that too.

A significant percent of aholes which makes up for it though. Beating them and seeing their fans dejected while ending their NCAA hopes would be more than worth the cost of the trip for me. Hope we get the chance to do it.
I've been to the BET a few times and would personally label the fanbase hostility as follows:
UCONN
(oceanic gulf)
SJU/Providence
Nova/Seton Hall
Marquette/Creighton
X/Butler/Gtown
(black hole gulf)
DePaul
The Marquette/UCONN semifinal was one of the wildest atmospheres I've ever been in before.
The most satisfying win I'd ever seen in person for MUBB, sending those arrogant assholes home with Tyler/Oso/Kam in foul trouble the entirety of the second half.
I'm not thrown off by any opposing fanbase at a BET after that, and I'm sure the guys feel the same way.
Just win them all.
We are plenty capable.

We should beat Providence at home.

By the time you get to Nova, it's less "hostile" and more "supportive".
Nova, Marquette, Creighton, X fans are great on the whole and super supportive.
But man those top 3 (really UCONN and Providence) are absolutely insufferable.

+1 to this list. Attended last year's BET as well. The semi-final on Friday night was one of the most electric atmospheres I've been in, let alone for a MUBB game.
Was surrounded by UCONN fans - who before we even tipped - were chatting very loudly about which seats they should secure for the following night's championship game. They were quite aggressive. Needles to say, that was a VERY fun walk through the concourse afterwards.

Was thinking the exact same. Just win the next two - as we will! - and all's great.
Creighton's not an easy place to play, but we won there in 2019, 2021 and 2023; and the 2022 loss was by 1 point. Those past results guarantee nothing going into Saturday's game, of course, but they do show that Omaha has not been some impossible mountain to climb for our guys.

UConn fans have the arrogance you'd expect from a program that has won at that level for 30 years. Providence fans are just really weird.

10.5 point favorite tomorrow.
I don't think my experience last year was typical, but the UConn fans in front of us on Friday night were really nice. That might have been because they were kind of isolated from other UConn fans, but I don't think so. They had a son at UConn who was doing something with the media during the game (he was dressed in khakis and a polo and came up to say hello at halftime). They were
really disappointed after the game. I
almost felt bad for them

That has been my experience.
Applying things I've learned from Dodds over the years, this could be a tough 4 games for MU. It could challenge the 4 game swoon that ended the 2019 season.
Tomorrow, Providence, which is fighting for its tournament life, comes in fresh and rested as they haven't had a game since last Wednesday. MU meanwhile had to play on Sunday and will likely have tired legs.
Then Saturday at Creighton is Senior Day. The Jays are likely to come out sky high and make every shot they take like Seton Hall on its Senior Day against MU
in 2011.
Then next Wednesday against UConn MU will need an almost perfect game, but they might be two jacked up with their families in town for Senior Night.
The following Sunday against Xavier will be a double challenge with the Muskies celebrating their Senior Day and needing a win to have any shot at an NCAA bid while MU will likely be suffering from a UConn hangover.
To make things worse Kam Jones, Mitchell, Ross, and Gold are all playing with injuries that are dramatically affecting their play, just like Sam Hauser in 19.
Also at the BET last year, and yes, the Friday atmosphere was electric. Winning was so so sweet. After Saturdays game we were in a bar and had a nice time with some other X and Creighton fans.
There were UConn fans who also just resented that there were no East coast schools in the final, like it went against God's law or something.

We jinxed '82 by storming the field after game 5 against the Cardinals. A great memory storming the field, but it was a bit premature. For the record, I stormed County Stadium in '81 and twice in '82. Great memories!!

3 more to go. The way this team is playing at home is amazing. Hopefully next Wednesday vs Uconn will be no different.
Really, it is down to the next 2 and TKo's health. Creighton is a monster at home and UConn is just a monster. I will be happy splitting. And I honestly don't care which one is a win.

I agree that a split of the next 2 would be quite acceptable, and, with the momentum now, it feels very doable.
If, though, we prefer to avoid both Creighton and UConn in the BEast tourney until the finals, then it would be preferable to beat Creighton on Saturday (and "give" the 1-seed to UConn).
Winning one of the next 2 would be wonderful.
If Kolek is out it would be remarkable.

If the assumption (going with Tower's happy premise) that splitting the next two happens...
and
if the assumption is that we'd like to avoid both UConn and Creighton until the BEast finals...
then, given various permutations, it would be preferable that our (one) win (of the next two games) is @Creighton.

Yeah cause it guarantees Creighton goes to 7 Ls
If fully healthy, we absolutely can beat UConn next week. But I just don't see them losing another game other than that one, and we need help to catch them even if we go 3-0.
So I agree with those about the importance of Saturday's game. A win in Omaha coupled with UConn crushing Seton Hall on Sunday guarantees us no worse than the #2 seed.

I'm fine with not catching them if we can somehow have Creighton meet Uconn in the semifinals. In order for that to happen we would need Creighton to lose the final two vs Marquette and @Nova, while Seton hall wins 2 of the last 3. Seton Hall has to finish with a better record as they went 0-2 vs Creighton.
