Title: [Cracked Sidewalks] Bracketology: Top-16 Contingency Plans
Post by: brewcity77 on February 16, 2024, 06:14:57 AM
A tweet from David Worlock led to some late reconsideration of the Top-16. The Selection Committee wrapped up their meeting yesterday and had "contingency plans" in place depending on the results from Thursday and Friday. With that in mind, we factored in this week's results and adjusted the top-16 to try to anticipate what we might see tomorrow. We break down expectations, where we might be wrong, and bracket the top-16 into regions. No full S-Curve or bracket this time, watch for that on Monday morning.

Given Illinois's position at 17, by the time they publish we would have played 6 of the other 16 top seeds. It's just nice to know we're not playing nonconf cupcakes by the dozen like 10 years ago. I know it wasn't that bad, but gone are these days where we hoped our BE record would keep us off the bubble.

Well, it would be a hoot to play Madison in Dallas, but we'll get a lot tougher opponent in that round when the time comes.

Having to play Houston in Texas wouldn't be a picnic, but the regional final isn't supposed to be easy.
