Title: [Cracked Sidewalks] Bracketology: Forget about NET
Post by: brewcity77 on January 22, 2024, 06:34:21 AM
It's the time of year when brackets start to be discussed, which means people will invariably complain about NET. Today we go deep into why everything fans think they know about NET doesn't really matter and why pundits that complain about it being a flawed system don't understand why that system even exists. We also check in on the S-Curve and bracket after a great weekend of college basketball.

Good stuff, seems like there are roughly 12ish teams ahead of us resume-wise, lot of opportunities left.

Curious why you are so high on Auburn in an article titled "Forget about NET", because their NET is about all that's worthy of a 3?

They have a resume avg of 11 and a predictive avg of 5. The computers would have them closer to a 1/2 than a 3. I'm waiting for them to produce in Q1 before moving them any higher, but I'm comfortable with them as a 3.

And a SOS in the 150's. Just feel like they should be more on that 4-5 line than 2-3.

One of my best NC friends is an App State alum and he's loving that Auburn has gone undefeated since losing at App State. He knows it's not gonna help his team get into the NCAAT, but it's something to hang his hat on.

Where did you find SOS in 150s?  Marquettes SOS is #5 in country. https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other

Was I asking about MU?

I guess I might be reading the teamsheets wrong, because the NET SOS number on the teamsheets here

https://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2024/net-teamsheets-plus

is not matching the SOS when you click on the individual team here.

https://www.warrennolan.com/basketball/2024/schedule/Auburn

Someone got an explanation?

He's talking about Auburn, not Marquette.
