Starting Saturday, 6 of MU's next 8 games will be on the road. Fortunately, 2 of those are against DePaul and Georgetown, but this is going to be a very demanding stretch of games. The home games against Seton Hall and St. John's are no gimmes either.
This seems overly critical. Prepare for the muggsy bomb.
To be fair, we'll really have 2 home games against DePaul.
The upside of the improvements from St. John's, Butler, and Villanova this season is that those games (plus the one at UConn) will be potential Quad 1 wins.

I catch myself mentally writing off the road game @UCONN, but hey! St. Johns hung in there with them in Connecticut until the final couple of minutes. We can win this one.

I don't think St. Johns is the best team on our schedule, probably not even in the Top 5, but they may be the toughest matchup we have on the road.
They can cause a lot of problems for a thin rotation. They have a lot of DUDES as Shaka likes to say. I wasn't high on them entering the season but after watching them play they are the real deal.

St. John's at home could also be Q1 by the time we play it.
SJ is going to be a battle in NYC. If they pull it out, it is a big check on the positive side of things. Very much looking forward to great sports day on Saturday. While I want the Pack to pull it out, I want an MU win even more.

Pitino has already pulled out the COVID excuse for losing to Shaka at home.

St. Johns without slick Rick and one of their leading scorers in Jordan Dingle. Both sick.
It'll be a good game on Saturday. Hopefully we can bring out our MSG mojo.

Depends on how SJ plays......they won't play like this at home.......have played really well for awhile now.....just had a clunker tonight.

lol..love him but dont look forward to the verbal beatings.
One of my biggest concerns against SJ is whether their style will take a toll on MU's reduced depth.

need an unsung hero-perfect time for a guy like zaide, tre or al to seize the moment

That would be nice and is part of what makes CBB exciting. Seeing people step up that you don't expect.
Look Scoopers,
We absolutely must win this game. It's as simple as that. I fully expect that we'll get the job done and build some momentum.

We will be usurped!
If MU is in fact something other than a middle of the pack team in the Big East it has to start to prove it by winning some conference road games.
The home loss to Butler has already put them below the low bar of "hold serve at home and steal a few on the road".
They're going to have to win games like this to avoid having to play on the first day of the BET and to earn a seed higher than 7 in the NCAA tournament.

Quite the optimist; you mean playing in Dayton.
I think Ty, Oso and Kam are made of sterner stuff and will will their way to road wins and more. We will know in just a few hours and I'll be there cheering them on.

Don't forget to take pics of the cheerleaders like the old guy at the Illinois game.
I expect a tough game. Let's hope you leave MSG with a smug smile on your face as you pass the SJ fans.

Ummm......I am quite certain Al isn't seizing any moment today. Unless you consider entering a blowout victory in the last two minutes as seizing the moment.
MU is currently -1.5

It's vital. We're talking about the difference between a top 4 NCAA seed to being 7-10 imo.
We have a chance to pick up 2 Q1 Wins today if we can take care of business and Nova beats UConn.

Not just on this game.
There are several more opportunities for good wins and bad losses to come, but falling way behind while losing road games has been the pattern that needs to be broken.

Well, I get why we want Marquette to win today. Aside from the players and coaches, nobody wants a win today more than I do. (I'll allow that most Scoopers and other big MU fans equally want the win.)
But it's not a "must-win" any more than the Nova game was or the next game will be. Heck, given how bad DePaul is, wouldn't our game Wednesday be even more of a must?
I'm not trying to be difficult here, but when you play 31 games, they're all important. And as the season goes along, with its ups and downs, each game becomes more important.
The fact is, however, that, assuming we make the NCAAT (and we will), the only truly must-win game will be the first one of the tourney. And then, after we win that, the next NCAAT game will be must-win. And so on.
I really, really, really want to win today. And I expect us to win today. But if we don't, the season is far from over. We'll still have a lot of big games, and a lot of opportunity to have a great season.
OK ... tip-off is coming up. Let's go!
We Are Marquette!

That's a lot of words refuting something I didn't say.
It was Muggsy who said it was must win.
I was just pointing out that MU had to start winning some of these road games.

FWIW it depended on what book you looked at. Checked two different sites just before the tip, one had us -1, another has us +1.5.
