With Marquette's season a colossal failure and loss, swirling its way to Bolivia and Shaka perilously close to a nickname from which he'll never recover, it's time to have the discussion about who should replace him.
I gave 4 good options but left a fifth option if you have someone else in mind

C'mon Mods, every time Rico posts it should default to teal. Make it so.

Who is this "Duane" guy you reference.
First, the obvious. You HAVE to call Billy Donovan. In fact, I just put in a call to him, and he said he'd call me back as soon as he was done brunching with 9-9-9.
Second, I wish you had included a second poll about what we want to happen to Shaka after we banish him for ruining our lives. Coaching in the G-League would be too good for him, but tar and feathers seems a little too old school.
Let me give an early shout-out to our rich alums: Thanks for paying for Shaka's buyout and for the salary of Donovan, Self, Spoelstra, Coach K, Phil Jackson, Denny Crum's Ghost or whichever all-timer coach we'll sign.
I want no part of Billy Donovan. Shaka used to work for him so it would just be more of the same. I'm leaning Brad Stevens. If he doesn't want to come back to college, 82's ideas of Spoelstra or Self would be okay too.
Brad Stevens! Good one, brew. Sorry I missed him. Probably a few others.
Update: Billy and Herm were really full after their entrees, so they opted to split the flan for dessert.
Wojo is available.
Why doesn't Wojo get his own option- he's way better than 'other'.
Megan Duffy
Pitino, after SJ fires him for recruiting violations.
You forgot Phil Jackson

We're way too focused on education. Having a team GPA of 3.4 shows we're wasting too much time in the books and not on the hardwood. Stay eligible, but anything more is just hurting the basketball product. Priorities.
Bravo.

Agree 100%. Kids aren't here for an education but to win games for me

I have to admit it's flattering that the board realizes the spot-on/brilliant insights from my posts would also translate into me being a top coaching prospect! 🙏🕺
I have no doubt I would lead us to the promise land if chosen to takeover our program. ☝️
My motto would be "Make Marquette Great Again!" 👏☝️👏☝️👏☝️

Yeah, its really a two for the price of one thing. I wonder if we can get Wade to play as a walk on next year or have him pay his own way since he's loaded.
Could be a title contender.

Wade left early, I believe he still has 2 years of eligibility left.

What's the buy-out? I'm sure Duane Wadde could cover it.
I'd like to go with this Shaka guy BUT if I can't have that give me my fave Basketball Coach of all-time........Coach Ken Reeves 8-)
Norman Dale kicks his butt.
Bill Raferty coached at Seton Hall. Why should Pitino be the only old guy coaching in the BE? Raf would get those puppies organized.

Rico, I must admit that about 70% of the time I laugh uncontrollably at some of your sarcastic takes. 30% I cringe at, not bc they aren't funny, or that I think Shaka and co don't understand sarcasm. He's a magna cum laude graduate, so I don't worry about that.
Honestly, and this is a fact I love: Shaka and his staff don't have the TIME to follow this board of, to quote the Untucked 30/30, "cast-offs, mavericks, misfits" and I really fear someone up high might just quickly read a headline topic and take you (or God forbid, the Scoop consensus) seriously enough to question what the hell they're doing working here! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
So can we just let this thread die? Please?! 😆
If the program has plateaued under Shaka, and we can expect national AP rankings between 3 and 8 every season, I'll sign up for that and take my chances in the NCAAs. Forever.

With UCONN's season a colossal failure and loss after a blowout at Creighton where he threatened to knock out a student, I hear that Dan Hurley is now available.
I'm thinking this guy called Shaka. Not sure but he could be good.
