Great ball movement,
Good grief. The foul on a triple late infuriates me.
How f-ing stupid are we?
Fouling the 3 shooter as the shot clock is expiring is bad
When he shoots 15% from 3 its insanity.
Offense is humming. Keep passing like this.
Need to get more stops tho
Doesn't look like the layoff hurt them.

The ball movement has been picture-perfect. Keep it up! Stopped their dribble drives! Go Marquette!
Full possession defense is optional at this point.
But man are we moving the ball well for ourselves.
Nice to see everyone with a bucket early. It's time to wake the F up on the defensive end. NOW.
Love the pace. If it's going to be a shootout, I like our chances.
They are 100% playing to our pace tho and I think Halloway knows it calling that TO
Not sure why Kam didnt do his up and under there
That give and go between him and Oso was siiiick
Oso!!!
OSO!!!!!
Damn what a start especially on the defensive end.
What a stretch.
Relax Sean.
I knew Dawes was gonna cook us. All I saw on SHU thread against Prov was how he was the worst and least intelligent player in SHU history
Hes going full Klesmit
Ughhh.
I know you gotta rest guys but subbing with the way the first 5 were playing wasnt ideal. Now we missing easy looks.
Chase hurt on what looked like a clear foul
Lost it when the subs came in. Need to get back on track here. Let's Go Marqueete!
That's a dislocated shoulder for Ross.

//Really hoping that wasn't a dislocation there, didn't look good the way he kinda fell and gave up on the play there

You could see his acromion process, definite dislocation.
Opportunities abound.
Actually maybe not a foul.

Thought the same thing. Dislocated, or weird nerve issue. Arm was limp, and where he was reaching to pain wise, suggests dislocation.
Absolutely no reason for Shaka to take out the lineup that was in the middle of a nice run and gotten them a double digit lead.
Catch the ball Ben.

Starters gotta get their rhythm back badly
I think Kams shooting woes are causing him to hesitate a bit on the 3 ball even though he has a couple makes today. Just passed up 2 looks to eventually rush a free throw line floater
Real mistake to.put 2nd string in so early - starters were rolling- completely disrupted the flow

Yeah I partially get it because they were ready to check in and then we went on like a 6 or 7-0 run while they were sitting there in like 30 seconds.
But gotta have a little awareness there as Shaka. The floodgates were open and we shut them on ourselves.

Weve made 1 shot in over 5 min since the subs happened
If MU goes on to lose this game, it's 100% on Shaka for taking out his starters when they were in the middle of a great run.
Another late shot clock make for the Hall. Gotta wake up, brutal 6 mins.
Just gotta ride out the run. Keep creating turnovers. Don't need to worry about a hostile environment cause Prudential is a cavernous dump
LET'S GO NOW!!
Up 10 and then absolute dogshit
Kam is hesitating on his threes.
Umm, Shaka was just kneeling inside the sideline. Did someone not warn him?
Infuriating. WTF??
Joplin just got crushed at the rim. No call.
Kam has full blown lost his shot. These are wide open shots he keeps missing not off the bounce.
We are getting blasted
Quote from: mugrad_89 on January 06, 2024, 11:40:51 AM

Has missed several wide open ones he must knock down.
1. Outside of forcing some TOs early, the defense has been bad.
2. What happened to the rebounding effort we saw against Creighton? Seton Hall working us on the glass.
3. Offense started hot but has gone cold. Too many TOs.
4. Need to steady the ship and not let the deficit get away from us by halftime.
Why oh.why does Jop lose his man like every possession
SH is hitting there's which they are not good at and scoring in the paint at will.
Shaka made a big mistake in this one IMO.
It was around the 13 minute mark and Marquette was cooking, up nearly 10, and he sent 3 guys for a sub
They were so in tune that subs weren't called for there. I know he does it all the time to rest the starters but shouldn't have today.

I think they'll be fine because it feels more self inflicted than SHU doing much to bother us.
But it's frustrating to watch.
Doritos and cottage cheese?
Subbing ok, but output was bad. 25 to 5 run since that subbing.
Up 10, then Gold was terrible, beat twice on defense and fouled, missed two threes and had two fouls.
Sean dribbled like Curly Neal and offense was lost, then he threw it away.
Difference though is Kolek, with one shot, numerous turnovers, MU jacking up and missing threes bad now, and offensive boards.

Good finish to the half.
I hate to be on the same page with no longer warriors because he's constantly trolling, but Shaka made a big mistake imo.
Big games on the road he needs to let efficiency and good runs roll. He can't be so structured in his subs when the team is cooking imo. He's the future hall of fame coach, and rarely makes mistakes, but I think he needs to get better here.
Instantly when I saw all the subs at the scorers table I said to my wife 'this is an awful move and can backfire bad' and the massive run for SH came.
Besides that, heart of a warrior in Stevie.
Let's win the second half by 15
A lousy 13 minutes to finish the half and only down three - could've been a lot worse. We should be ok.
All things considered, not a bad close-out of the first half on the road.
Kolek seems disinterested in road games.
Given TKO's performance, could have been much worse. Got'em where we want'em.
Solid end to the half.
Crazy to be down when SHU already has like their season average in TOs
While I think subbing out the starters was obviously the clear cut momentum breaker. Ironically we are losing at the half because of 2 of our best players in TK and Kam.
TK not hunting his shot and has some wildly TOS for him
Kam is just still off. Timid on 3s. Missing wide open ones. Then taking wild ass shots in the paint that have 0 chance to go in.

Kolek has three points, a three pointer, took only two shots, three turnovers and Shaka benched him for like last three minutes. Shaka made his point.
Looking for big second half from him and Oso. Especially Oso, who needs to get the ball in paint with other MU players like in a four corners. SH cannot stop him.

Finally caught up, what a start! Really thought we'd roll and we sure started that way. Strange substitutions hurt the rhythm, but I get why Shaka did it. We shouldn't have fallen off that badly. Tyler was absolutely locked in, then he wasn't, tried to press to hard. Oso was awesome. Stevie brought it, keep that up. Gotta stop all the wide open threes.

Welp, I tried to put all my positive Tyler energy into the universe, but man, I just don't understand how he is checked out. The difference in effort and composure from the first 5 minutes to these last 5 minutes is shocking. Very disappointed, but it's still early

How many BE road games will they win ?
3 ? 4 ?
Can't hit shots. Hard to win when you can't score. Time for regression to the mean to kick in. Sure Shaka is talking about that now. lol
They've played awful in all but one road game this year. It's absurd. Seems like other big east teams can compete on the road. This team just gets dominated
Gotta be honest, I expect way more of Kam's wide-open threes to go in.
And, maybe it's just me, but Tyler has had a lot of moments of "meh" this season.
Either the Fiserv is a massive advantage or this team is vastly over-rated or both.
This defense makes no sense. We'll double 35 feet away from the basket, but when their best player takes it to the paint it's 1 on 1. We absolutely deserve to lose this game.
13 to 3 in FTA's never helps. Our Big 3 has to be better. Period.

Absolutely. About time, two possessions in a row, came a bit short on one shot. No more Kam jacking or Sean driving the lane. Spread MU players in corners, give to Oso, SH can't stop him and center has two fouls.

Gold is awful - so slow on D and can't hit the open 3 - really disappointing for this season and next
I agree. Just not sure this is a guy that makes a big jump YOY
time for a stop
Shaka needs to go offense defense subs with Sean. Put lowery in on defense
Mighty Mouse becoming a three point threat.
I had the game muted for a second, what was the call leading to the timeout?
The game is right there for us. JTY and Mitchell have stepped up. It's time for our main guys to get their heads right and close the show.

Our ball. SC violation on the Hall.
Sure Muggs ....
Kam and TKO have played like $hit for 32 mins... I'm sure they will miraculously just " wake up "
Uh huh
JOP!!
Was hoping one of our 3 freshmen could contribute to this point in the season. Would certainly help us!
Fk.
Kolek looks like he's not even looking to score.
Kick!
Wow....they call a foul on that?
Tie the game, and start the stupid again.
richond looks like the best guy on the floor. our star is having zero impact on this game
Was that offensive goaltending?
Not feeling good about this one
Nothing dropping for MU and a missed dunk goes down for SHU. Good lord.
Anyone know why Sean isn't out there?
Offensive goaltending on the SH shot that broke the tie

Are you sure Lenny?
We have 3 frosh that can't / don't play at all. That's another problem, yes
Terrible possession. TK doesn't want the ball
Catch the ball!!!

4 fouls
Cmon man no crap.
He was on fire, another bad move from coach
Just can't hit the bug the shot consistently
Frustrating as fk.
Game over
Pathetic end to this one
Good lord...
Tyler looking like he wants to play a grad transfer year at George Mason
not gonna lie, this team is very, very disappointing
I think we can say this one's over
I think it's time to accept this team isn't as good as we all thought
Tyler looks apathetic.
That was almost apropos.
Why is Sean sitting?
This one squarely on coach
They need to get their crap together mentally if they want to have the year they expect to have.
This was beyond disappointing. I cannot properly express my anger and frustration but it's as high as it has been for some time.
But somehow we still have w chance.
Never have seen the boys quit before, much to my own personal disappointment in myself, I'm pissed. Super disappointed, we will lose but we should never crumble.
Happy Saturday Scoop!
Really disappointing run.
Bad 3 point shooting ream

Cowards on the road.. just pathetic garbage play. get dominated to mediocre teams..
Tie it ....
Then quit. Giving up breakaway dunks

Lots of blame to go around for this mess. Sean wasn't the difference between winning and losing this one

Yep Oso got all ball, SH guy hung on the rim with the ball in the cylinder.
Just like WI and Prov.
Down big early. Claw back. Then lose it convincingly

yea our 3 big guys are still very good, but basically the same as last year. the freshman aren't near as good as we hoped and the guys that needed to improve didn't. kinda dissapointing but with the way college ball is this year they can still make a run in march
Welp, made an ass of myself that's for sure!
This is a mid-pack big east team and an early exit NCAA team. vastly over-rated
Wow wtf
Don't take him off again coach, unless you do offense defense
lol OMG
Get beat twice for dunks.
Does anybody want to win this game?

Maybe with how last year ended
Just be the most talented 7 seed imaginable and hope to have some sack in March and get hot.
Right now this team won't win at Georgetown
That one had to go down for Kam. Let's see if we can somehow squeak out of this nightmare game with a W.

So not much player development over the summer and pre-season?
Kolek is only all-American at home, that's for sure.
MU ball!!!
How the $%^* did that go in?
Not sure Hall will foul here.
Wow, ridiculous make there
Wow. Tough shot but Oso shouldn't be reaching he should have protected the rim.
Of course Davis hits that prayer lol
WTF was that??
Brilliant play drawn up by Shaka.
Flashbacks to previous administration
Extremely predictable
That was bad.
WTF! Kam got held that whole inbounds
Yikes. That's all.
What a terrible game from everyone. Clock management down the stretch gets an F from me.
Seton Hall was holding a lot on that inbounds. Low IQ finish by the boys
If Jop wants to play local maybe UWM will take him
Shaka is no better a game coach than Wojo.

Just the ending this guy needing to blow his load. Light up a cigarette bud, you earned it.
As frustrated as been in a while.
Self inflicted loss. All game and Kolek can't make a pass inbound after a timeout
Bad loss for 7th ranked team and an SH team that had a boatload of turnovers. Teams with that many usually lose.
So long top10, been nice knowing you.
Pathetic

Lol come on, man. You don't even believe that.
Two tough home games coming up.
If this team doesn't win both of those we may be looking at a Bubble Watch season. They sure don't look like a team that is headed for a protected seed.
If Ross is out for an extended time (as sounds likely) things could really get ugly.
Just can't get it done. 0-2 on road to mid pack big east teams.
I mean you can't compound those early mistakes by sitting Sean for 4 minutes from like the 6min mark to the 2:30 mark.
Makes no sense, none whatsoever.
Maybe they still don't win with him, but cmon man
Things have kind of settled in. I still think 14-6 in conf is doable. A ranking in the 12-20 range from here on out is certainly realistic. Just frustrating there hasn't been more of a step-up from Ross, Gold, one of the freshmen, and Jop consistency.

Assuming the team continues to mostly hold serve at home and beats DePaul/Georgetown on the road, this team is not going to even sniff bubble watch with its resume. They'll be firmly in.

And firmly out after a game or two (at the most).
With Kam cold, Kolek disinterested in road games, Jop/Gold/Ross not as advertised as improved. Sean Jones looks somewhat better. This team may be a struggle to be 4th or 5th in the BE.

Take the free throws off the board that SHU made when MU twice fouled a 3 point shooter, and MU gets out of there with a win.
Yes. Stupid, undisciplined mistakes where you give away points, will come back to cost you a game.

There are some real concerns about this team being good enough right now to secure a protected seed.
But this is a severe overreaction. We're not losing either of those two home games.
They do need to get a conference road win to build some confidence. This team isn't talented enough to win the league without full belief and confidence, and right now they don't have that on the road. They got there last year. It feels like they are getting closer. But they aren't there right now.

I think MU has to now be considered a mid pack Big East team.
That pack includes almost everyone but DePaul, Georgetown, and Xavier, and Xavier has a lot of upside potential as their freshmen and transfers get more time together.
UConn might or might not be ahead of that pack until Clingan returns.

Yeah, they have no chance to win more than 2 games, and that would be the absolute max this team could achieve.
Much better chance they lose the first game than win a second.
And this is a team you goofs were talking about winning a national championship?!?!

Guess I'll just find the ignore button.
Rebounds 43-25 TOs kept MU in the game.
Quote from: wisblue on January 06, 2024, 12:25:22 PM
Players that needed to step up and play bigger roles haven't done it. Other teams have improved since November and MU hasn't.
Losing road games is one thing but this team hasn't even been competitive in its 2 road losses and this one is quickly turning into a third.
The early Big East games have shown that several teams that were pretty bad last year are much better this season. A Conference record in the 12-8 range is looking more likely than the 15-5 I had predicted.
Not a good sign for the Warriors

14-6 compared to last year's 17-3 is not improvement. That is regression. With the players coming back and this performance there should be big concern with these results

In 1977 Al had his most regular season losses in his final 10 years at Marquette. So a big time regular season regression. Hoping for something similar this year.
that's the hope at this point...

Sure, but the next two games will tell us whether they are capable of "holding serve" at home.if they only "mostly" hold serve they'll be flirting with a .500 conference record and that wouldn't be a lock going into the final weeks.
I am very concerned and disappointed that the team hasn't improved since November and at best any talk of Final Four or a deep NCAA run seems like an unrealistic pipe dream.
Quote from: CountryRoads on January 06, 2024, 01:30:29 PM

As I said, maybe UConn with Clingan. If not, then it's a mosh pit of 8 teams with Xavier ready to move in as they get more experience.
Maybe Providence without Hopkins will fall back but if they do that would work to MUs disadvantage because their game at PC is already in L column.
If MU stands above that pack, they should demonstrate it with solid wins over Butler and Villanova at home.
Who do you think MU is clearly better than based on games played after Thanksgiving?
this ... "I am very concerned and disappointed that the team hasn't improved since November"
and the advertised developments in Mitchell/Joplin/Gold/Ross" have not shown up...
