Fouling the 3 shooter as the shot clock is expiring is bad

When he shoots 15% from 3 its insanity.

That's a dislocated shoulder for Ross.

Thought the same thing. Dislocated, or weird nerve issue. Arm was limp, and where he was reaching to pain wise, suggests dislocation.

Starters gotta get their rhythm back badly

I think Kams shooting woes are causing him to hesitate a bit on the 3 ball even though he has a couple makes today. Just passed up 2 looks to eventually rush a free throw line floater

Need to get back to our crisp ball movement that we started with.  Went to hell with first set of subs.    Let’s get back to it now and block them out in the paint.  Bem needs to sit right now.  Let’s Gooo Marquette!

Yeah I partially get it because they were ready to check in and then we went on like a 6 or 7-0 run while they were sitting there in like 30 seconds.

But gotta have a little awareness there as Shaka. The floodgates were open and we shut them on ourselves.

1.  Outside of forcing some TOs early, the defense has been bad.

2.  What happened to the rebounding effort we saw against Creighton?  Seton Hall working us on the glass.

3.  Offense started hot but has gone cold.  Too many TOs.

4.  Need to steady the ship and not let the deficit get away from us by halftime.

Shaka made a big mistake in this one IMO.

It was around the 13 minute mark and Marquette was cooking, up nearly 10, and he sent 3 guys for a sub

They were so in tune that subs weren’t called for there. I know he does it all the time to rest the starters but shouldn’t have today.

Since then, Pirates on like a 15 pt run and Kam and TyKo both off

Subbing ok, but output was bad. 25 to 5 run since that subbing.

Up 10, then Gold was terrible, beat twice on defense and fouled, missed two threes and had two fouls.

Sean dribbled like Curly Neal and offense was lost, then he threw it away.

Difference though is Kolek, with one shot, numerous turnovers, MU jacking up and missing threes bad now, and offensive boards.

Not good. With Richmond sitting also.  Looking for big second half after adjustments, especially Kolek.

Good finish to the half.

I hate to be on the same page with no longer warriors because he’s constantly trolling, but Shaka made a big mistake imo.

Big games on the road he needs to let efficiency and good runs roll. He can’t be so structured in his subs when the team is cooking imo. He’s the future hall of fame coach, and rarely makes mistakes, but I think he needs to get better here.

Instantly when I saw all the subs at the scorers table I said to my wife ‘this is an awful move and can backfire bad’ and the massive run for SH came.

Besides that, heart of a warrior in Stevie.

Let’s win the second half by 15

Solid end to the half.

Crazy to be down when SHU already has like their season average in TOs

While I think subbing out the starters was obviously the clear cut momentum breaker. Ironically we are losing at the half because of 2 of our best players in TK and Kam.

TK not hunting his shot and has some wildly TOS for him

Kam is just still off. Timid on 3s. Missing wide open ones. Then taking wild ass shots in the paint that have 0 chance to go in.

Get those two right in the 2nd half and go.

Ighadaro was the best player in the game early and has been non-factor since, and I don't think it's his fault. Game is too fast for officials, and announcers. Thought Bob Wenzel was left in C-USA. Sideline girl is equally poor doing the baseball highlights.

That's a dislocated shoulder for Ross.

Going to need surgery eventually for a likely torn labrum, may try to play through it the rest of the year, but it will be likely continue to dislocate periodically.

Kolek has three points, a three pointer, took only two shots, three turnovers and Shaka benched him for like last three minutes. Shaka made his point.

Looking for big second half from him and Oso.  Especially Oso, who needs to get the ball in paint with other MU players like in a four corners.  SH cannot stop him.

SH up three with Richmond on bench with fouls and 12 SH turnovers, was self inflicted by MU. Adjustments…..

Finally caught up, what a start! Really thought we’d roll and we sure started that way. Strange substitutions hurt the rhythm, but I get why Shaka did it. We shouldn’t have fallen off that badly. Tyler was absolutely locked in, then he wasn’t, tried to press to hard. Oso was awesome. Stevie brought it, keep that up. Gotta stop all the wide open threes.

Players that needed to step up and play bigger roles haven’t done it. Other teams have improved since November and MU hasn’t.

Losing road games is one thing but this team hasn’t even been competitive in its 2 road losses and this one is quickly turning into a third.

The early Big East games have shown that several teams that were pretty bad last year are much better this season. A Conference record in the 12-8 range is looking more likely than the 15-5 I had predicted.

Two tough home games coming up.

If this team doesn’t win both of those we may be looking at a Bubble Watch season. They sure don’t look like a team that is headed for a protected seed.

If Ross is out for an extended time (as sounds likely) things could really get ugly.

Things have kind of settled in. I still think 14-6 in conf is doable. A ranking in the 12-20 range from here on out is certainly realistic. Just frustrating there hasn’t been more of a step-up from Ross, Gold, one of the freshmen, and Jop consistency.

Assuming the team continues to mostly hold serve at home and beats DePaul/Georgetown on the road, this team is not going to even sniff bubble watch with its resume.  They'll be firmly in.

With Kam cold, Kolek disinterested in road games, Jop/Gold/Ross not as advertised as improved.   Sean Jones looks somewhat better.   This team may be a struggle to be 4th or 5th in the BE.

Take the free throws off the board that SHU made when MU twice fouled a 3 point shooter, and MU gets out of there with a win.

Yes. Stupid, undisciplined mistakes where you give away points, will come back to cost you a game.

There are some real concerns about this team being good enough right now to secure a protected seed.

But this is a severe overreaction. We’re not losing either of those two home games.

They do need to get a conference road win to build some confidence. This team isn’t talented enough to win the league without full belief and confidence, and right now they don’t have that on the road. They got there last year. It feels like they are getting closer. But they aren’t there right now.

Just can’t get it done. 0-2 on road to mid pack big east teams.

I think MU has to now be considered a mid pack Big East team.

That pack includes almost everyone but DePaul, Georgetown, and Xavier, and Xavier has a lot of upside potential as their freshmen and transfers get more time together.

UConn might or might not be ahead of that pack until Clingan returns.

Yeah, they have no chance to win more than 2 games, and that would be the absolute max this team could achieve.

Much better chance they lose the first game than win a second.

Not a good sign for the Warriors

Things have kind of settled in. I still think 14-6 in conf is doable. A ranking in the 12-20 range from here on out is certainly realistic. Just frustrating there hasn’t been more of a step-up from Ross, Gold, one of the freshmen, and Jop consistency.
14-6 compared to last year's 17-3 is not improvement. That is regression. With the players coming back and this performance there should be big concern with these results

In 1977 Al had his most regular season losses in his final 10 years at Marquette. So a big time regular season regression. Hoping for something similar this year.

that's the hope at this point...

Assuming the team continues to mostly hold serve at home and beats DePaul/Georgetown on the road, this team is not going to even sniff bubble watch with its resume.  They'll be firmly in.

Sure, but the next two games will tell us whether they are capable of “holding serve” at home.if they only “mostly” hold serve they’ll be flirting with a .500 conference record and that wouldn’t be a lock going into the final weeks.

I am very concerned and disappointed that the team hasn’t improved since November and at best any talk of Final Four or a deep NCAA run seems like an unrealistic pipe dream.

Who do you have as the top of the pack teams?

As I said, maybe UConn with Clingan. If not, then it’s a mosh pit of 8 teams with Xavier ready to move in as they get more experience.

Maybe Providence without Hopkins will fall back but if they do that would work to MUs disadvantage because their game at PC is already in L column.

If MU stands above that pack, they should demonstrate it with solid wins over Butler and Villanova at home.

Who do you think MU is clearly better than based on games played after Thanksgiving?

this ...  "I am very concerned and disappointed that the team hasn’t improved since November"

and the advertised developments in Mitchell/Joplin/Gold/Ross" have not shown up...
