And must be destroyed. Yeah, I said it.
I will not be watching the game live. Who will come up with the best thread title?
Massive game in the national spotlight. Can't wait for an incredible atmosphere tomorrow.
Yes. Destroy them! Go Marquette!

Marquette a 4 point favorite to open.
Creighton needs the win more and they can get as hot as any team in the country.
Key is to play as the more desperate team and use the atmosphere to the advantage. Go MU!
We're going to roll them.
Burn down the plantation!

We're going to roll them.
If that's gonna happen they'll need to be a ton better about not overhelping.
I have no idea what to expect because of Creighton's three point shooting variance.
79-72 MU
plus or minus 15
Scoop is as confident in this one as they were going into the Wisconsin and Providence games. Expecting a tight one with a week of prep and a CU stinker versus Nova in Omaha. A lot at stake.
With eFg% meaning everything in a game like this, absolutely possible we lose by a lot
Man, I wish I wasn't chillin on the beach. Oh wait, I'm good, and I hope Goose has an awesome time in the money section that is 119!!

Yep. I'm curious to see how MU handles this test. A good crowd hopefully will give the team a ton of energy. Need to come out of the gates strong. A couple early Kam threes would help. Creighton should be locked in though. Will be a fun game tomorrow.
Still have 1 student ticket for sale if anyone is interested!

We need the win. Who cares what Creighton needs. Have to win the home games and steal a few on the road.
MU will go medieval, show Creighton to darkness and win.
Marquette's shooting has been really worrisome and Creighton can light it up.
I'll still say Marquette 73 Creighton 69.

Burn down the plantation!
Some inside baseball on this. Apparently Mac's wife had just finished a book about the plantation era and had been telling him about it in great detail the night before this incident. He had just heard the word plantation 40 times and it slipped out in the middle of a motivational speech. Seriously. I actually give him a little credit for never mentioning this, not that it would save him from any ridicule for "blaming it on his wife". Still a mistake on his part but I find it ridiculous to mention this in any context that suggests he is a racist.
This game tomorrow is tremendously important. The crowd will do a lot to help the team in the last few possessions, as I expect this game to go down to the final buzzer. Marquette won both games last year but Creighton has given the team fits over the last several years.
So fans are nervous. After losing to Providence, which was not a gimme game by any stretch of the imagination, and despite our ranking which fueled our expectations, MU sits on a one game winning streak. Georgetown. Beat Creighton tomorrow and buzz through Seaton Hall and Butler and face Villanova at home and then find yourself in a situation to dominate the rest of the year, and not see Uconn until February 17th.
What do I expect to see? Well for one I expect to see Kam get his shot going. He's shooting on a familiar floor and he will rain down threes tomorrow. I see four or more. Is Stevie Mitchell going to play tomorrow? Some folks underestimate his importance because he has a hard time scoring. Scoring is not a problem for this team. Get more shots and you will win the game.
But anytime you lose you look to your defense. Why wasn't it better? Why couldn't they defend and why did they foul guys shooting desperation threes? Effort and good decisions.
I know I will be taken to town over my simple analysis: For example, you need to consider field goal efficiency and rebounding. Yeah I get it. Don't turn the ball over and run. Score in less than 15 seconds and get back of defense. Or, if you're stopped in the half court let Oso operate. He's got the moves, and he's learning how footwork makes all the difference in the paint. No one should expect him to shoot threes. Give me 60 percent from inside the paint and I'm satisfied.
Stevie Mitchell will play tomorrow and the questions about his injury will go by the wayside. From what I heard (on this board) Damarius Owens and Royce Parham will sit court side at this game. They are in for a treat. A sell out crowd will inspire their team to defend their home court. And it's a Golden Eagle against a blue jay, right? MU by five.

We will will pregaming early and will we be on best behavior in 119. What was supposed to be me and my three boys, the plans changed a tad due to youngest son getting Covid. Mrs Goose is now on the travel squad in his place.
Have fun on the beach and we will do our best to bring home the W.

I think if Stevie was still out it'd be a toss up. With him, I think we're going to wear them down.

Massive game?
Creighton isn't even in the Top 20 anymore.
Heard on a gambling/picks video that Creighton is dead last, 362nd in America, in forcing turnovers. Marquette takes care of the ball anyways, but that could be key if Marquette can force Creighton into some TOs to really win that battle.

I think this team is great at its peak. I just have a feeling they are going to drop a handful of games starting with Creighton.
Nice job covering both sides of the ledger. Marquette can lose ... but you can't!
Oh, and Creighton doesn't "need" the game any more than Marquette does. Gotta beat good teams at home. Glad you think we will ... or won't.
Feels like forever since we played last
There are a lot of reasons to think MU has the edge today. Creighton doesn't seem to fit the profile of the kind of team that gives MU the most trouble (big, long, athletic front lines).
The big wild card that can be unpredictable is their 3 point shooting. They are going to take a lot of them, and if they're hot they will be hard to keep up with. But when they are missing they have clunkers like CSU and UNLV.
If Schierman gets hot it could be a long day.

Looking forward to a classic MU Creighton high scoring Shoot Out today. Kam poised for a breakout game.

True. Of course, if Kam and Joplin get hot for Marquette, it could be a very long day for Creighton.

Didn't roll like I thought but a win, a cover and a Q1A win. Good day
Congrats to GE03. He almost nailed the score exactly. Of course, a week ago he said we'd lose, kinda like he said we'd lose to Georgia Tech last year, but hey he's human.
