1. Cooley has a way to go before he has the team he wants.
2. MU had the game they needed.
3. Other than Kam, everybody looked connected on offense.
4. Kam looked snakebit.
5. A good night to get Tre and Zaide as much run as feasible.
6. Heal that hamstring, Stevie.
Hopefully Kam is due for a breakout game against Creighton.

This game was more about GTown than it was about Marquette.
Terrible performance. Could have won by 40 but Cam can't shoot and the walk-on's are terrible. We let them get 8 assists.
Just not very good, thin at guard, turnovers.
Hoyas might get 5,500 for the Creighton game: the fan base has checked out.

To be honest, that's way more than I would have thought.
DFW, you have a proven coach. It is just going to take a minute.
Delighted to see the team focus and get the job done tonight . Mr. Cooley will eventually get some players so I am enjoying these lop sided wins ,while have them ,versus The Hoyas.
Agreed on Gtown. It's gonna take a few years, but would think they'll be decent eventually with Cooley.

How do you sell this team to fans in DC? One reporter estimated 800 at the last game.

Between today and the end of the ND game, have our walk ons caused us to drop a seed line? Could be a few spots higher in the net if we weren't -25 in about 3 minutes of game play.
I know people want to boot DePaul. But having 4 get right games a year between them and GTown isn't the worst thing in the world.

I'm looking longer term. The program has lost 60% of its attendance in the last 10 years and those people aren't coming back.
7. Still, not Ed's worst loss in Milwaukee. Good thing the game wasn't decided within 5 pts 😂
8. Full week of practice with no games, need that.
9. Merry Christmas! Let's win 12/30/23-4/8/24

The DC area has checked out of sports right now. The Capitals are 20th in NHL attendance, the f/k/a/ Redskins are 27th in the NFL and the Wizards are 28th in the NBA. Add to the fact that, unlike Marquette, very few local students actually go to Georgetown, so they won't show, and this has become a visible problem at games when there are 15,000 to 18,000 empty seats and you can only hide it so much. I'm sure the Big East office is mindful of this: Georgetown will play three games on Fox broadcast in Big East play, but none will be at home. Lower level tickets for the next home game (Creighton) are at $8 on the secondary market.
I remain an optimist. After 26 years of covering Georgetown football games (one winning season since 1999), you can't get much more frustrating than that.
Joplin was challenged by Shaka and the coaching staff and he came to play today. Proud to see that effort and to take on that challenge head on.
Had 3 offensive rebounds all year and was challenged to get 3 offensive rebounds today. When he got his third, the bench went wild. 9 rebounds in total. The rest of his game fell in place today.
Hope it continues.

Agree. It's like someone told him he could drive and that's all he does. To paraphrase Ben Wyatt teaching Tom Haverford to play ball "I said you could drive, not that you could only drive"
Why does Shaka insist on playing Tyler and Oso up 35 with four minutes left? One wrong move and our season is toast.

Maybe because there is as much risk of getting a serious in practice as in a game the coaches don't worry about that.

I was so confused when he got that board and everyone went wild (had the game on mute tonight to appease my son with his show on the tv alongside MU)
Good stuff by shaka. Mentioned the rebounding in the postgame too.
Great to see he is still having them concentrate on hustle plays and rebounding and ignoring the abysmal up to tonight shooting, knowing that that will come on its own

Anyone else think that Kam's 3 point shot has returned to the same angle as his freshman year -- seems like he doesn't have the significant arc he had last year. Still making 3's-- but missing a few more than he did last year.

does it hurt Gtown attendance that their arena is not walking distance from campus?...which I'm assuming also impacts SH and DeP attendance. Not sure the proximity of Prov, UConn, CU and X to theirs respectively, but at least for MU it's not unreasonable to walk to FF.

Cooley to his team: "This isn't pretty boy basketball, this is the Big East!"
Went to my first game in 10 years with my son (his first game). Couple of thoughts:
1. Kam went to the locker room with about 4-5 minutes left in the second half by himself. Didn't see any MU personnel follow. Not sure if he returned to the bench.
2. The team did a really good job switching off after Sean Jones got switched to a big guy in the post. When there was a moment, someone else switched with him to get him back out on a perimeter player. I think there was only 1 time I can think of where Georgetown immediately fed the post player and they got a bucket off of the mismatch. Overall, really good team communication on defense.
3. I like that Joplin was willing to put it on the floor and drive. He's not great at it and I don't want him doing it all the time, but it's nice to see to keep the defense honest. Same thing from Gold, but he's done it a couple of times in previous games from the top of the key. Just nice to see they can do it.
4. I'm really excited about what Al Amadou will be in 2 years. Right now he's a bouncy energy guy who does get pushed around down low, but some time in the weight room will do him well.

Yes I think the arc is lower than last season.......his 3 point shooting percentage this season(even after last night) is 39.2 ......the exact same as his freshman season......last season it was only 36%.....

I don't know about the arc, but this has been his best shooting season and before the clunker last night it wasn't particularly close.
