Nice games from Kolek, Oso, and Gold too.
Willie for his performance in the game thread
But go Jop
Kam Jones for effort . Man.
Big Will.
Ben Gold
Jop along with a real team effort
Joplin.
Nice to see Jolp find his 3-point shot again. Pretty easy choice.
Gold's three 3s in the first half definitely sparked the team, too. Down 13-10 before hit his first ... up 25-15 after he hit his third.

Willie for his performance in the game thread
Except he isn't getting it done
Joplin with a head in his kielbasa double dribble
Kam is brick city tonight
Kolek has missed a lot of layups tonight
Terrible pass by Oso. Head firmly ensconced in his butt
Terrible no block out by Oso
This team is becoming very concerning. Huge drop-off from last year.
How much did MU lose by?
Great game from Jop with the efficient scoring and rebounds and Im down with finally getting a non big 3 SOTG
But honestly should probably be TK. He had 10 pts(on 5/9) and 6 assists in the first half when we already won the game.

I think it's a blowout for SOTG, no offense to other nominees
Kolek. Double double. And he's still the straw that stirs the drink.

Wilhemina is adorable. No different than what usually transpires in the game. Going back and reading the game chat after a win is usually the best unintentional comedy on scoop.

I can't bring myself to do it.
It's kind of if you (collective you, not tower you) make a stupid face too many times, your dad says if you keep doing it your face will get stuck in that position. I'm afraid if I ever visit the game thread, I might never find my way back out.

Don't mess with your happy.
Ben Gold. Even Cooley said so per Dodds report on his site. Major turnaround with his 3 treys.
Jop for 9 rebounds

Hell hath frozen over in my house. It's Jop, what an effort, credit where credit is due. As someone said in a text to me, Jop showed out for me and gave me an early birthday present.
Kolek 13, 5, 10 +3 steals was our best player.
But Jop hit some shots and played well overall.
Scoop grades on the curve, big on exceeding expectations. So I'm OK with Jop.
Are you saying scoop doesn't appreciate the best player on the team?

I mean, Joplin had 7 more points than our next highest scorer, 4 more rebounds than our next highest rebounder (and 7 more than our star center), 2 steals, 1 block and only 1 turnover.
Don't make it sound like choosing him would be somehow "settling."
Jop. Maybe his best all around game at MU so far. Loved the effort on the boards. Had some deflections too.

He did.
But TK coasted in the second half when game was long over and took 2 shots.
He had 10 and 6 to build the lead in the 1st half. Really coulda had about 20 assists if players namely Kam made wide open shots.
As my first post said Jop is a fine choice he played and its nice to get a new winner. But Kolek dominated until it became the expected laugher.
Kolek was the best player on the court again tonight. I really hope MU fans watch and appreciate how good a Kolek really is.
I thought Joplin played well and worked hard tonight on D, but Kolek sets the tone for the team. The confidence is much higher when Kolek is running show and makes it look easy
Jop was the only one who was on from the start (4 points in our first 8 possessions, gross) and his shooting is the only reason our percentage from deep was respectable. Honorable mention to Kolek, but his 4 turnovers are the reason SOTG is clearly David Joplin.

Kolek played a nice game aside from a few sloppy passes. He has had "dominant" performances; this wasn't one of them IMHO. You're allowed to believe otherwise.
I didn't pick Jop because he'd be a "new winner." Kolek has been SoG 4x and I picked him 3x. I have no problem with him winning SoG.

I don't think anyone doubts Kolek is our best player and on a night in, night out basis is generally fantastic. That said, he's not the one-man show Markus was.
But I agree with you. It's Stud of the GAME and tonight was Jop's night. Leading scorer, rebounder, three point shooter, and the MVP per Pomeroy. He's the most logical pick for many reasons.
The jopinator needed this game so bad to get some confidence back ...especially after reading scoop the past week
Jop. Really hope this gets him going. We need him to step up scoring and rebounding like he did tonight. Nice left hand finish early in the game too. He was impressive.
Easy, Jop. He found himself again. The Shaka Slap of 5 clinched it.
Yes ink in Jop.

when jop realizes he can make a commitment to go to the basket, go strong like ya mean it. don't f### around and tickle it around the edges big fella, quit juke juke juking and then look to dish outside because they know that move...didn't work for omax and surely isn't working for you

The problem is that he doesn't really have the elevation to just get to the basket against better teams. As someone else pointed out, he is actually more valuable in catch and shoot situations where he never puts the ball on the floor. That's certainly where he excelled last year.

On his drive and left hand finish last night, that's what my brother said, he went with confidence and authority that play. He just needs to build confidence, but showed that's in him. Hopefully we'll see more like that. Along with more consistent perimeter shot. He also was shooting it more free and easy last night. Other games this year it feels like it's going up hoping it doesn't miss vs this is going to be a bucket.
I said last year that Joplin can score a ton down low, provided he is patient. I still think he should get six points a game down low with ease. He is far more than a three point shooter.

He was probably thinking he would miss and get his own offensive rebound so he can win Shakas challenge of 3 offensive boards
Give it to Jop so he does not transfer....

I thought he played well in n D as well. Stayed in front of his man nicely.
Nice to give it to Jop. We need his help for this team's future. Thank you to Tyler again and in my mind he is always the reason for our success.
