Marquette has 17 game home court winning streak. AL's 81 home game winning streak ranks 5th "AL" ltime. Any thoughts on how long this one will last.
Blue Jays ended MU's 18 home game winning streak in 1974 they will probably have another chance on December 30th
I really don't see us losing a home game this year. The toughest test is creighton and UConn and I think that atmosphere will help them win both
One game at a time. There is no doubt that atmosphere at FF is big advantage and would expect big and loud crowds the rest of the way.
Have a bad feeling in my gut about St John's 2028 so I'll say 82 games

Flu bug going around the team, huh?
More concern about Pitino really needing a convincing win to shore up some undecideds in an election year

Am going with something comparable or close to a full NBA season or 2 NBA seasons also. Going with 83 games 2028 Seton Hall game.
Notre Dame ended our home court streak and UCLA's unbeaten streak. We dodged a bullet the other night!
They almost lost last night to St. Thomas. The streak will not last long.
If MU is to be who we think they are...it's no longer a question of holding serve and finishing 10-8 so we stay off the bubble.
Different this year. We Must win at home and also roll thru the away games ... Basically beat everyone not named Creighton or UConn away from home.
If it's a 1 seed we want that's what we're looking at.
Honestly... I don't think they go the whole year without a home loss.
Hope I'm wrong.
Impossible to predict for obvious reasons, but creighton especially is a wild card. We could beat them by 20 or lose by 20, all depends on what % they shoot on their 40 3pt attempts.
They're the guy you invite on your bachelor party to spice things up but deep down you know it was a risk
82 ... MU82.
Of course.

Well, I'll expect 40 fouls called on Marquette and only 10-15 on Providence on the 19th; but our walk ons are better than Providence so we just may squeak out a win.

imho, win streak is safe until 03/06 when UConn visits FF.
Current longest home winning streaks in NCAA Basketball:
1) UCLA - 29 games
2) Oral Roberts - 20 games
3T) Boise St - 19 games
3T) Louisiana - 19 games
5T) Marquette - 17 games
5T) Maryland - 17 games
5T) Virginia - 17 games
Our biggest on paper test is obviously Creighton (66% per Pomeroy). It's our only home game with below a 75% probability on kenpom until March 6 against UConn. If we get past that, there's at least a decent chance we run our streak to 26 entering the UConn game.
As for the rest...
UCLA: No likely losses until March 7 against Arizona, but a couple likely close contests with Maryland (12/22) and Washington (1/14) both projected to be close in the coming weeks.
Oral Roberts: Weber State (1/6) and South Dakota State (1/27) both look like coin flip games, though the sneaky possible loss is St. Thomas (1/13) sandwiched in between. If they get out of January, they probably keep their streak going into next year.
Boise State: They'll be likely underdogs against Colorado State (1/9) and San Diego State (1/20) with additional tests from UNLV and Utah State. Seems unlikely they get out of January.
Louisiana: They will definitely make the New Year because they don't play another home game until James Madison (1/4). If they get past that, they are 60+% in every other game this year. They could make it to the end of the year as well.
I'm sure someone will say this is a jinx, but those are the games to watch if we want the longest streak. In terms of the two tied with us, Maryland has Purdue (1/2) and Michigan State (1/21) as games they are underdogs in at home in January. Virginia is 70+% through January, so unless they lose one they aren't supposed to (which could clearly happen to any of these teams, see our St Thomas game) they are in good shape until mid to late February.
Yeah, butt eye'm pretty sure Dwight Clay has used up all hiz eligibility, aina?
After UCLA lost a buy game, here's the updated list:
1) Oral Roberts - 21 games (next 1/6 vs Weber St)
2) Boise St - 20 games (next 12/29 vs Utah Valley)
3) Louisiana - 19 games (next 1/4 vs James Madison)
4T) Marquette - 18 games (next 12/30 vs Creighton
4T) Maryland - 18 games (next 12/28 vs Coppin St)
Boise also has Colorado St coming up while Maryland has Purdue. If we beat Creighton, there's a real chance we'll have the longest home streak when Butler comes in on January 10.

The UCLA win is not aging well...
Well because UCLA is terrible....
Tho, in many ways it was best win of year, cuz a loss would've resulted in a game v. Chaminade rather the KU

Aging better than a loss would have.

It's laughable to say a streak that's lasted more than a year won't last long.

bilsu predicts disaster every day. Then, when we finally lose one, he's "right."
Can Marquette 2023 do this Year what the 1974 Marquette team could not do. Beat Creighton to extend an 18 Home Court winning streak to a 19 game home court winning streak
Which one do we care about more - the overall streak or the BE streak?
Just win baby!!
Given all the great Big East programs over the decades - Nova, UConn, St. John's, Georgetown, Syracuse, Louisville, Marquette, etc - it's hard to believe that nobody ever put together a home winning streak longer than 20 games.

It's a really, really tough conference.
The FF is becoming a difficult place to visit. The atmosphere, especially when MU is playing D, is intimidating. The crowd is loud and loud at the right times. Defense travels!!

Goose, 💯. I was really impressed with how loud the crowd seemed on D even after we missed so many open shots. Without the students there, the home crowd refused to give up, and seemed to know exactly when our players needed a lift.

The crowd was notably loud today at the right times. A couple more well timed threes would have blown the roof of the place. Loki g forward to that when the offense truly gets in a groove.
Shooter
I agree on a couple of made shots would have blown the roof off. I am loving the crowd on defense because this team can lock it down.

I exhort my fellow fans in 220 to join in that atmosphere. felt like a morgue at times
Today we tied the all time home winning streak in Big East play at 20. Marquette, Notre Dame, & Pitt shared the record (we're the only team to reach 20 on two separate occasions). We can break that against Butler on Jan 10.

I dunno, think the AL could be more intimidating and louder.

Maryland is out tonight. Maryland lost to Purdue tonight and their home court winning streak is over.
James Madison ends Louisiana's 19-game home winning streak. Only two teams ahead of Marquette, both of which will be underdogs in their next home games. Here's where it stands now:
1T) Oral Roberts - 21 Games (next 1/6 vs Weber St)
1T) Boise State - 21 Games (next 1/9 vs Colorado St)
3T) Marquette - 19 Games (next 1/10 vs Butler)
3T) Virginia - 19 Games (next 1/17 vs Virginia Tech)

Virginia's can't go on too much longer. They play ND in a few weeks!
Weber State wins at Oral Roberts, though they saw an 11-point lead dwindle to 3 in the final minute (run started at 0:55) thanks to a thirty-second ORU 11-3 run that was almost completed when Trey Phipps clanked a tying three attempt off the front iron with 0:25 to play. If CSU beats Boise Tuesday, we can take sole possession of the nation's longest home court winning streak along with the all-time Big East home court winning streak on Wednesday.

2T) Marquette - 19 Games (next 1/10 vs Butler)

That would be nice.
The alternative would be mass hysteria.
