Flying in tomorrow afternoon for the Texas game. Staying in an Airbnb across the street from Fiserv. Looking for a good place to grab a quick dinner. Any suggestions?
Arby's, aina
Carson's for steak/chops or Calderone Club for pizza/Italian. Both walking distance with good food. There is also a new hotel called The Trade right across the street from Fiserv with a ground level bar/restaurant called Craft. Haven't been there yet, but the whole place looks very nice.
419 E Wells.
Not even a whisper in the Austin or Dallas papers about tonight's game. All about football. Not totally surprised, but they are #12.
If that doesn't reinforce for Shaka how much better off he is, not much else will.
There probably won't be anything in our paper until Saturday about this game either, but I agree with your point.

Thinking ahead to ND? Or, up too early today??? 😂
ND sucks.
Milwaukee?... is a Badger town. Amazing how little pub MU gets as a top 10 team.

All likely need reservations. I will be having murdered smoked longhorn at Doc's Smokehouse.
Dr. B
Way to go on supporting Doc's!! All scoopers should go to Doc's early and then hit Goolsbys on the way to the game.
Doc's is gooood stuff.

I love Mader's! Potato pancakes, wiener schnitzel with kraut and spaetzle and a dark moody beer to wash it down! Right across the street to boot!

I didn't realize you were over the age of 70.
Buck Bradley's is my go to. Walking distance from the fiserv and food is good and properly priced.

Closed. Nice italian at calderone club is hard to beat. However, Goolsbys, Milwaukee Brat House, Whos on Third, and Mecca all acceptable pregame bar spots
Those damn incompetent fools in the marketing department are at it again (https://x.com/MarquetteMBB/status/1732444865684763058?s=20).

Just read online about Buck Bradley's. I had no idea it closed already back in June. I used to go there at least 2x -3x a year. Goolsbys is a fun bar but the food is just bar food that's tolerable. Love those owners though, great couple.

Some posts about Shaka from TX scoop:
QuoteTrue to Shaka's MO I notice that Marquette is 49th in 3P attempts (~26 per game) and 229th in 3P% (31%). If they shoots lights out, we're probably fucked playing in front of what should be a rowdy crowd. But to Derka's point, even a 20 point Marquette lead can disappear if they just keep jacking up ill-advised shots. Here's hoping he rolls out his Abilene Christian game plan tonight.
Quoteeither team could win by 20 and it wouldn't surprise me; either team could win by one and it wouldn't surprise me; but only one of these teams can get a 20 point lead and then lose by one without it surprising me (lol shakablah!). other than that, i wouldn't try to handicap this game with randy marsh's wheelchair. could be a wild one tonight.
QuoteShaka deserves his own aggycoaster-esque MS Paint. His season arcs are executing with fucking clinical precision.
-The big November win over a highly ranked opponent
-The December scare against a mid/low major
-The respectable-to-strong start to conference play
-The mild setback that gives you pause
-The "back on track" run that convinces you this year could be different
-The limp to the conference play finish
-The wildcard conference tourney performance
-The catastrophic early round NCAA tourney loss. FIN
QuoteAll I'm asking is that on December 6th Rodney Terry and crew beat that ass. I couldn't stomach a loss to a Shaka coached team after how terrible he was at Texas. The guy legitimately came here and ditched his identity for some whack ass NBA style system and failed miserably.
That is awesome.
MU was -8.5 favorites, looks like it just got adjusted down to -7.5. Does that seem like a big spread to anyone else? I admit I have not seen Texas play this year, but seems like a lot of points separating two good teams.

I would assume the big spread is becasue the C/F Dylan Disu is not playing again - he has not played all year dealing with foot injury I believe.

We're 8 point "favorites" on Kenpom. The spread is where it should be. Texas is a good, not great team and MU is at home in a bounce back spot. Their best win is against #160 Louisville by 1 point.
I'm staying away from this one because I don't like the idea of losing money if MU wins by 7, but if at any point I can get MU live at -4 or less, I'll absolutely be jumping in.
They also struggle mightily against P&R. We should get a ton of wide open shots.
This is a big game for my psyche after the clunker in Madison.

The dark depths of the internet/social media analytics folks I follow almost unanimously are calling for MU to blow Texas out of the water tonight.
I grabbed MU first half -4 earlier today, I see it's up to -4.5 now.

Brilliant minds. First time I've seen Texas play, they did not look good. Borderline Top 25 team at best.

The amount of times I doubled down in the first half was probably alarmingly unhealthy. But it felt like a sure thing even when they were struggling early.

Wow, blast from the past. I love Tess, was once home to my favorite meal I'd had in MKE. Great little neighborhood joint.
