If the basketball genie could wave a magic wand and offer you the following choice, which way would you go:
A. Play the games tonight and tomorrow ŵith
the guarantee of a 1-1 split ( without
knowing whether the win is tonight or
tomorrow).
OR
B. Play the games tonight and tomorrow
with no guarantee of anything, but only the
possibility of MU going 2-0, 1-1 or 0-2.
Either way you play 2 top 10 teams, so
SOS shouldn't be effected.
So what do you think?

Is this a serious question? Give up a shot at winning the championship in a historically stacked tournament for a guarantee of finishing second or third? Are you kidding? If there is anyone in Marquette program who would consider Option A for more than one millisecond, I hope that he is either fired or is kicked off the team immediately. Fortunately, I'm sure there isn't.

It's a difficult question. I would think most of us would take the guaranteed split but I am greedy and want the trifecta, title, and #1 ranking. :)

I don't think you are as unique as you think on this topic.
Nobody's taking the guaranteed split. No shame in losing to #1 and #2 or #7, but if we can beat #1 and #2 on consecutive nights? That's stuff of LEGENDS.
Go for broke. This team has the cojones.

Maybe I overthought that. From a tourney seed perspective getting a win over Kansas, Purdue, or Tenn would be big but maybe it's not that important in light of all of the other big games on our schedule.
This thread reminds me of that recent Capital One campaign.
Yep, even easier than that (https://youtu.be/MlL86puXq0I?si=6RTt1Imxo29gaVXO)

Of course I'd be disappointed if MU finishes fourth in this tournament, but there's no shame in it. I can't imagine that there is a guy on the team who would give up their shot at winning just to avoid any chance of finishing fourth - give up a chance at winning just to improve from fourth to third (which is all that is guaranteed in Option A). Not a chance.
New question just for fun: What would Kolek's response be if someone asked him the question in the initial post?

A four letter word for intercourse ending in k; and its not talk.
This should be a question on the COLE Club entrance test.
