That's basically it.
Who's the turd in the suit?

Both people are wearing suits.
Fair point. Still, only one of those two is a turd, and we all know it. Digger sucks, along with ND.
What he said

The matching of the highlighter marker with his tie is one of the most annoying affectations that I can recall from an on-air personality. Digger was such a tool. KO thought he was an pretty boy* and said as much. KO used to say that when he got the job, Digger called him up and told him, "Congratulations. You just inherited the worst fans in the country." Whoever poured the beer over Digger's head in the early-mid 80's...well done. As mentioned in a previous recent thread, the win over Digger and the Irish in 1989 is probably my favorite non-con home win that I can recall. My recollection -- could be wrong -- is that after the beer incident Digger had insisted on scheduling the game in Milwaukee while the students were home for break and that he relented on the condition that it was a Noon tipoff. The bars opened at 6:00 that morning to make sure we could all prepare sufficiently.

That 1989 game was incredible. The first signs of KO leading the revival.
My daughter is a Rider graduate. She is famous to me.
In '71 #2 Marquette played #4 Fordham before 19000 fans at the Garden. If I remember correctly the game went to double overtime with a Marquette victory. that is the game that put Digger on the map.

And if I recall Fordham's star at the time was a guy named Charlie Yelverton ( 2nd or 3rd team all-American) who I think played at Rice HS in NYC with Dean Meminger.

That was also the game that Al told #22 it was his time to shine in the Big Apple at the Garden, aina?

Can't believe we charged the court after that game but it was fun nonetheless. Have some good pictures from that game. One of which was my buddy on someone's shoulders on the court that was used by Marquette to advertise the next seasons season tickets.
Shooter
KO had the joint rocking. The ND and Michigan games gave some hope to the fanbase.

Yeah, charging the court after a home victory over a team that had a losing record. But it
was Notre Dame. After 10-18...you take what you can get.

And the next weekend was defending national champion Michigan the Saturday after finals. Absolutely wild.

That Fordham/MU game was truly outstanding. As I recall, the Dream picked up four Fouls in the first half but Al never took him out of the game and he never picked up his fifth and never took his foot off of the gas.
Despite having Yelverton and Meminger, Rice lost in the CHSAA Championship game their senior year to La Salle who had John Roach and Tom Owens. They later starred at South Carolina.

If I remember correctly, MU down 5 with Michigan at the line for a 1 and 1 in the final couple of minutes. Remeal Robinson missed the first, and Terry Mills comes out of nowhere for the rebound and put back, MU could have cut it to one possession. The air went out of the building after that.

So you remember a specific possession from a regular season game 34 years ago, but do you remember your kid's birthday?
