1. Kam gets to the line 2+ times per game consistently
2. Joplin scores 30 three times in conference play
3. Chase is BE 6th man of the year
4. Ben Gold averages 8+ ppg in conference play
5. Tyler is Tyler
Bonus: Oso has 10 3p attempts in conference play making 30%
Joplin gives us 65% of the defense this season omax did last year.
We struggled at times last year defensively. I believe we'll be a better unit this season but need jop to up his game. I have full faith he can do it.
Chase and Stevie will provide a lot of great defense, and both are capable scorers. So if the rest of the players in the floor can up the defensive game and rebounding, the offense should take care of itself if the defense offers opportunities for steals, second chance points etc. if the defense shines this team will be a very tough opponent.
1. Oso averages 8 boards a game
2. Chase becomes the 2nd lockdown defender
3. Joplin averages 12 a game
4. Tyler sets single season assists record (deep run in March)
5. We shoot above 37% from 3
Kolek and Oso decide to return next year.

1. Oso becomes a rebounding force.
2. Stevie becomes a real threat beyond the arc.
3. Joplin becomes at least an average defender.
4. Chase wins BE 6th man.
5. Ben Gold looks like a starter in waiting.
1. Stevie continues to dominate in the classroom
2. Ben introduces his teammates to more New Zealand cuisine and expands their culinary horizons.
3. Everyone has fun
4. When visiting each city on the road, the team takes a moment to visit a local historical site and learns something new
5. The frosh avoid the freshman 15

Agreed. Great list.
Excellent points across the board. Stay healthy, attack, play with relentless fury. Starting tomorrow.
Herman nailed it.

He predict they lose every tough game again?

Herman gets a pass from me on his prediction. Do not agree with him, but respect his opinion.
nolongerwarriors never posts.
We don't worry about beating Rider.
1) Joplin to improve to a plus defender. I want to see him use his length & quick hands while having better positioning.
2) Stevie to become a reliable three point threat. He doesn't need huge usage, but being able to hit 35-37% from deep would open up the floor for him, provided he maintained his 2P & turnover efficiency.
3) Gold to improve his lateral defensive movement and rebounding on that end while maintaining his conference level offensive efficiency.
4) Sean to have a similar freshman to sophomore improvement we've seen from Oso, Kam, Stevie, etc under Shaka so he can give 12-15 mpg.
5) Chase to become my best case view of him, which is an all-around terror on both ends that garners lottery talk by April.
TKO, Oso, & Kam can just be what they are or a little better and from the freshman I have minimal expectations, just able to contribute some minutes.
Lottery?!?!?

I'm only kidding anyway. I'm sure he is exaggerating that the best team MU has had in a while will lose every tough game and against ND. He wants no injuries for a Wojo type year? It's actually pretty funny. I'll give him credit for that.

Shooting has to improve, but if Bouknight and Hawkins can get there, so can Chase, especially in a weak draft year.

There's some serious "backup quarterback" talk here.
1. Joplin play much improved defense to help replace OMax and score 13+ ppg.
2. Kolek first team AA (and repeat BE POY).
3. Oso 1st team all BE.
4. Stevie BE defensive POY.
5. Chase BE 6th Man
Bonus 6. Kam NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player

Not at all. Based on what we saw last year, he's clearly the biggest upside NBA prospect on the team. I'd still have him as the 5th or 6th best college player, but Chase has sophomore year Jimmy in him. Not the best player on the team, but a better pro prospect than the all conference guys in front of him.

Not saying he can't get there, but it's a massive jump for a guy who doesn't do anything exceptionally right now and isn't physically/athletically imposing at the next level (yet).
He's a year away from draft talk, much less lottery discussion.
But then again, this is the wishlist thread and I'm sure my kids will ask for crazy things from Santa this year too.
Frankly, I hope Chase is better as a Marquette sophomore than Jimmy was.

This. Definitely this.
I have watched college bb for over fifty years and after watching the Marquette games last year (especially the two games vs Uconn) – I can't stress enough the way Smart has put this team in a situation to be special. You have five players. And they play both ways. You need a center, a power forward, an athletic small forward shooter, and two guards. It all sounds so simple.
Tyler and Kam Jones operate together to set up the offense. They put so much pressure on defenses and they make one another so dangerous. I wouldn't trade them for anything.
Where's the power forward? Where's Jae Crowder or Otoule? Those days are long gone.
Gold defended Sonago and all these guys chin to chin at the end of the year. He will find his aggressiveness. Omax is gone. Oh my! Give me Joplin and Chase Ross. At the end, last year, they played in critical situations and made big plays. I see good things. And then there's OSO– An amazing player last year. Not getting enough credit. He is the reason this team will entertain a trip to the final four. He will set up the triangle with Kolek and Kam. Kam is an amazing athlete and a more decent young man that you would ever meet. He will not be Wade but he will be someone that we will all remember. This team will be so fun to watch.
There will be games when MU will coast and the sophomores and the freshmen will see themselves play college bb and feel like they belong on this team and the future only looks brighter. And everyone grows and grows and eventually they take their turn.
Like Butch and Dwyane and Jimmy. I know, I shaking a lot of pom poms. But just wait and see. The next year will be better than last year. There will be games that will disappoint us but there will be games that will make us jump and down in our living rooms. My grand daughters will say "Mom. What's wrong with grandpa?" And she will say, "That's Marquette basketball, honey."
Nice Oil can!
I like (and share) your enthusiasm, oil can.
Oso gets plenty of credit, though.

It's definitely best case scenario, but if everything hits, Chase has the athleticism, shooting ability (based admittedly on scrimmages and open practices), and defensive acumen to make a huge jump. Particularly considering what we've seen from freshmen to sophomores under this staff. He might still be a year away, but if anyone has the capability to make that jump now, it's him.
1. Good health
2. That they stay connected and team focused (Avoid ego problems that can come with success)
3. Jop a capable defender and rebounder
4. Ross, Jones and Gold take a significant step up in terms of impact
5. That the joy of success exceeds the weight of expectations.
