Surprised nobody else has posted (unless I missed it). Thus far, the preseason Big East honors include:
MU No. 1 in Coaches' Poll (https://x.com/BIGEASTMBB/status/1716792933884543345?s=20)
TyKo POY (https://x.com/BIGEASTMBB/status/1716794347922841728?s=20)
Oso and Kam - 2nd Team (https://x.com/BIGEASTMBB/status/1716794347922841728?s=20)
Let's go, MU. Leave no doubt that last year was not a fluke.

I appreciated Pitino's comments on Soriano. "The next time he drops down into a defensive stance will be the first time"
Nice to see Kam getting some pre-season love: on the watchlist for Jerry West award (https://x.com/MarquetteMBB/status/1716862948734271574?s=20)
From Ben Steele today
Tyler Kolek's fame, Kam Jones' outfit highlight scenes of Marquette players at Big East media day
(https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/college/marquette/2023/10/24/marquettes-tyler-kolek-is-big-east-preseason-player-of-year/71298607007/)Oso says he doesn't plan to use his COVID year next year:
QuoteKolek and big man Oso Ighodaro are the only MU players with the extra season of NCAA eligibility. Ighodaro has said he is unlikely to use it, while Kolek said he hasn't thought about it yet.
"If the NBA is an option or if professional is an option, then so be it. Maybe I take that step. Or maybe I come back again next year. It's all in the flow of things."
Watch out for those Seton Hall Pirates. They were picked 9th by these guys.
The biggest shock for me from Media Day was that Oso was wearing a knit tie with a squared off tip. The same ties we wore to Boylan Central Catholic high school back in the mid 1980's. I was never fully convinced they were in style back then, so it's shocking that they are in style today.

The circumtied look can be real popular with the ladies.

And now I see Joplin is included as one of 20 on the Naismith watchlist for the Dr. J Award (https://x.com/hoophallu/status/1717224542261989461?s=20) for small forwards. Love the recognition for these Warriors.

So, as of this date MU has four of its presumed starters on the Naismith Watchlists: Kolek on the Cousy list; Jones on the West list; Joplin on the Dr. J list; and Oso on the Malone list. For those keeping score at home, only two schools -- Marquette and Duke -- have a player on the preseason watch list for all four awards.
I hope Stevie doesn't feel left out. Do they have a preseason watch list for Defensive POY?
Maybe Stevie will be on the list for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award for best center.

Pitino should know all about defensive stances after Porcinos.

60 years ago, we still remember 11 critical seconds.

Exactly, he had to go on defense in his court testimony and with the media and with his family. Somebody above was just dense to understand.

Of course. He has made his track record. That incident among a few others. I didn't make it up. Pitino is a laughing stock. You can continue to make excuses for his moral lapses. A Catholic institution should know better than to employ him
