Title: Big East tournament
Post by: PuertoRicanNightmare on October 20, 2023, 08:51:10 AM
Trying to plan a trip to the BET. Can anybody recommend logistical info (tickets, hotels, off time activity)? I did a quick search on this site and got a bunch of results from 2016. Thanks!!

Hmmmm I'm pretty sure it's been asked a hundred times and answered more than that more often than 2016.

So many options. Completely depends on what you're trying to do. We look around Times Square. MSG walkable to the south, Broadway walkable to the north.

You don't know when we're playing so tix are tough if you're just going to MU games. Last year prices were elevated for games 1 and 2 for us bc of the competition. The championship game got me great seats at 40% the cost of the semifinals on stubhub.

In the future, I'd like to try to just buy all session passes when available, then sell the ones I'm not going to.

No, you're not.  But the search function sucks.

Maybe you just didn't look very hard.   ;D

Advanced search helps, you can limit that timeline to fewer days so you just the last year or two.

We've just been buying off Stubhub once we know our games. I'm going to look at the all-session tix this year, and we'll decide then. Yes, the prices for our first games this past year were higher than last year. We did spend some bucks to sit behind the MU bench for the championship game. Otherwise we just sit higher up. A bartender told us in 2022  that usually the semi-final game is the one commanding the most money on the resale market.

Perhaps this isn't well known - but you can also use google to search muscoop.  In their search box, just type something like:
"site:muscoop.com BET trip"

Like so...https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Amuscoop.com+BET+trip

Porky strongly endorses the (relatively) new Courtyard By Marriott property at Hudson Yards.  It's a bit far west and off the beaten path but only a 10 min walk (if that) from MSG and across the street from The Shops at Hudson Yards luxury mall and other attractions.   If you look out the window of the room they chose to highlight on their home page, you can see part of MSG in the lower left hand corner.

https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/nycjj-courtyard-new-york-manhattan-midtown-west/overview/

This is a new property that was just completed in late 2019.  Porky believes it opened 4 years to the day almost on 11/1/2019 or something like that so it's relatively new .  Porky has stayed here several times since Porky's office is across the street.   Again it's very convenient to MSG, but a little off the beaten path from other things you may want to do while in town, but not prohibitively so.

Not sure if the rates will reflect its far west location (probably not during BET) but it's still a decent property and worth checking out for BET.   Porky is an NYC metro area native and with the exception of 4 fantastic years in MKE, has lived in NYC or it's environs for Porky's entire life so Porky knows of what Porky speaks (or writes in this case).  Feel free to DM Porky with any other NYC questions.  Good Luck!
