ASP then cross-referenced that list with states and schools that are "friendlier" to NIL deals, DeCarolis said, which led to the final 10 schools: The University of Wisconsin-Madison, LSU, Marquette, UNC, The University of Texas, UC Boulder, Penn, The University of Washington, Stanford, and Ohio State.
Enjoy seeing MU listed with "NIL friendly schools" like LSU.

Good luck finding college students with any sort of affinity for burgers and fries.

Give me that! Much better than a dried out, overcooked burger from Culvers. And Five Guys's fries are infinitely better than Culvers's, and might even be better than their cheese curds. Culvers's cheese curds are some of the worst I've had (but are still awesome because they're still fried cheese).

Five Guys Fries, cajun style. Even ordering a small still feeds a family of 6.
Nothing was better than a double cheddar burger from Wales on Wells. With fried mushrooms on the side and a strawberry shake.

I'm admittedly not a French fry guy so you may be right. I never get them. I agree with you about Culver's cheese curds... probably the worst cheese curds out there but the worst cheese curd is still better than the best French fry IMO.

Kopps -the original Culvers.
Kopps is clearly better than Five Guys, Culvers, Shake Shack, etc. But I know people who will have out of town visitors making their first visit to Milwaukee and Kopps is on the top of their absolute must does with those people, which i think is wildly absurd. There are significantly better burgers and significantly better custard spots in and around Milwaukee than Kopps.
Thought you'd be a Solly's and Gilles kinda dude, hey?
Leon's is better than all three

You got that right. We cannot leave Milwaukee without stopping at Leon's. And since my son and his family moved to the Chicago burbs, he takes the kids to Leon's (about an hour each way) once a month or so.
Leon's butter pecan frozen custard is one of the great things in the world. Period.

Oscar's is great. Solly's is awesome because half of every bite is melting butter. Sobleman's used to be great but got too big for it's own good. Elsa's is solid. Haven't had Nite Owl but have heard it's right up there with anything in Milwaukee.
Leon's has the best vanilla custard I've ever tasted. The best raspberry one too. Unfortunately, that's it. They have very good basic flavors but the lack of variety is a drawback for me. Unless it's a bad flavor day, I'd choose Kopp's 10/10 times over Leon's. Kopp's Cream City Champs? Or their Pancakes and Maple Syrup? Pure perfection.
Leon's has the higher floor. Kopp's has the higher ceiling.

Unless you actually don't like butter pecan, it's borderline heresy that you aren't acknowledging Leon's butter pecan! The custard itself is amazing, and they wait until the end to put the salty, buttery, crunchy pecans on so they don't get soggy.
Once upon a time, it was one of their rotating flavors of the day, along with raspberry and mint and maple and a couple others. But several years ago, the demand for butter pecan was too great, so they made that a regular one, along with vanilla and chocolate.
Their chocolate, BTW, is not good. Which is weird, because the rest are great.
Cafe Lulu and Cafe Hollander both have fantastic burgers.

Cafe Hollander in Madison used to have a Belgian bone marrow burger that was amazing.
I don't like strawberry flavored ice cream, shakes or milk normally (or strawberries themselves), but Leon's strawberry custard is my favorite custard/ice cream in the world. Yes, the menu is short/limited. But that's because you don't need anything more than their plain vanilla, butter pecan, or strawberry cones. If you want to throw some kind of topping on them, go for that too. But I'll take a plain old strawberry cone from Leon's over a peanut butter cup cone (my favorite non-Leon's custard flavor out there) or peanut butter cup sundae from Oscar's anyday.
I put Kopps' and Gilles' custards about 3rd tier, just above true fast food like Culvers. Leon's and LeDuc's stand alone at the top, then there's a solid size drop to Murf's and Oscar's, then a huge drop to Kopps and Gilles. Kopps's burgers are better than Murf's, so if you want to bump the restaurant as a whole up because of that I wouldn't argue with that. But neither touches Leon's or Leduc's.
I think someone on Scoop mentioned a place in Burlington for best custards. I can't remember the place, and haven't tried it yet. Maybe that's for next week when I'm back up in WI.
In Burlington, probably Fred's you're thinking of.

Love the burgers at Camino — my favorite in town. And their $5 burger deal on Mondays is great.
Shake Shack came about to give people a place to eat and hang out in Madison Square Park. (It began as a hot dog cart.)
It's a take on the St. Louis childhood of Danny Meyer. He's big into burger type hang out places. Fitz's, Crown Candy Kitchen, Schneithorst's (RIP), Steak 'n Shake, Ted Drewes, The Parkmoor (RIP original but there's a newer location in Webster Groves w/same burgers)
Ted Drewes another very overrated custard stand. The custard itself is around the level that Culver's is. I'll give them credit for their new Mississippi Mud flavors. The mix ins are great there.
