Very interesting. I'm curious how exactly they control for lucky three point shots when doing lineup based stats.

I didn't ask how they do it internally, but you can actually do a bit of that yourself using Hoop-Explorer. He has a "luck" button that adjusts 3-points percentage up or down to about average.
So without a luck adjustment the MU 5 of Tk/Kam/Jop/OMax/Oso had an Adj DRating of 88.7 points/100 poss. Meaning they were an elite defensive squad. But that's because opponents shot 24% in this 114 possession sample. If you adjust for "luck" the Adj D Rating goes down to 96.6 pts/100.

Obvi there will be some teams and lineups that are better than others at contesting 3s, but for the most part, makes sense to revert to the average.
