Title: Animal Athleticism Thread
Post by: withoutbias on July 12, 2023, 02:54:02 PM
Have at it Muggsy.  Hate to break it to you, but a silver back gorilla is not stepping on a football field as an outside linebacker anytime soon, so failing to mention Harambe as one of the best football player of all time is not a slight on the animal kingdom.

So if you want to come up with your best theoretical football roster built from any combination of living organism, here's your thread.

Do you have any idea what a Silverback would do to an NFL lineman?  Hearses would have to be on the field.  :)

They're not smart enough to understand the game.  They'd be flagged every play.  The only hearses leaving the field would have a gorilla in them when they attack the humans.

It there were no more humans left on the field they would not be flagged.  :)

Real zebras are cool.

I'm surprised that you have not suggested that we get a kangaroo on our team. Thick neck plus would be one Hell of a pogo stick!

Herman,

Rhinos can flip cars effortlessly.  Their strength and power is extraordinary.  We're talking about living tanks.  Obviously the Bull Elephant stands alone in ultimate land mammal power but Rhinos have zero fear.  They also can't see very well so sometimes they run over things accidentally.

Yeah we probably saw the same video of the Elephant treating a full grown rhino like a toy car.

Saw a clip on TV once-may have been Nat'l Geo channel-of a driver on a dirt road in Africa who got tired of being behind a lumbering elephant, so he decided to pass it. Bad idea! This elephant did not like vehicles passing him. With a minimum of effort, he flipped the vehicle upside down.

What we have done to the Elephant and Rhino populations is ignominious and totally inexcusable.  I have been lucky enough to be up close with both African Bull Elephants in South Africa and Asian Elephants in Thailand.  I also saw Rhinos as well.  These are tremendous members of the animal kingdom and their physical dominance is undeniable.  It's beyond remarkable to see a 20,000 pound Elephant be so gentle and dignified.  If they get mad that's totally because of human interference and stupidity.
