Trevor Mbakwe!
5 points, 6 boards and a boatload of promise for an exciting end to this season!
We might only have about 3 losses right now if we had this kid all year. Being a team that is so short in frontcourt talent missing him was such a huge blow.
Looks like Trevor could be a beast on the offensive boards. He also drew a charge today and had a nice deep post up move. The kid has talent. Hopefully he can shoot the free throws better.
Unfortunately, if you look at the ESPN Box Score (http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=280512599), Mbakwe didn't even play. Edited to add: either they fixed it, or I'm an idiot. Either is equally likely.
With that as his second ever college game, it's hard to not get excited about this kid. He's going to be a good one.

THEY didn't do anything. mbakwe changed it
Good to see Mbakwe with those numbers for his second game. I think he will help us a lot during the tourney. He looks pretty comfortable out there.
I need to see the assist numbers before deciding.. as of this moment it is McNeal but James could trump him if his assists are "high enough".

thanks topper.. mcneal gets it.. even in assists with DJ.. 4 more TOs but had more steals and a block to even it out.. the 7 rebs and 50% FG shooting (including 2 3's made) tipped it in his favor.
Good call spiral... IMHO, the 7 rebounds clinched it for Jerel although I was very impressed with DJ going 9-9 in FT's.
DJ had an incredible first half...but JM was the force tonight. Five TO's is the only blemish, but I think a lot of those came in the "push" part of the 2nd half. Ugly win, but it really never was in question.
Mbaks had a few sweet plays... good preview of his potential... and doing that in his second college game, in the BIG EAST, on the road and in Madison Square Garden! We have to be really really excited about this kid and also, for him contributing the rest of this season.
