My grand pappy had a saying:
"Dead horses don't win"
I'll never forget that.

How time flies, seems like this happened yesterday.

Unbelievable it has been that long. I was only 9 years old but I remember the excitement surrounding Secretariat and the excitement each race provided. My parents loved the horses, especially the Derby, and it is a wonderful memory for me.

I've been to 5 Kentucky Derbys, the last in 1989. Your daughter is presumably on the Infield, which at her age, is where all the fun is. If on the Infield, she will likely go all day without even seeing a horse ( except on the hundreds of TVs that are out there). Great to be young.
Five horses scratched, including the favorite, and 7 horses dead at Churchill Downs in recent days.
What a sh!tshow.
Congratulations to the horses that didn't die for human entertainment
