Hurray, hurray outdoor fookin' starts today. Participate early and often, aina?
To borrow from some old songs....
why don't we do it in the snow
Baby, it's cold outside.
Cold and windy today, make sure to grab a bear skin to keep your nutz warm.
Doc
You are a better man than I am if you are participating today. I did not like walking from the car to my office this morning.
Happy May Day to one and all
International Labor Day
No doubt jesmu is watching old videos of the soviet military equipment at their closest bolshevik meeting.

My wife hates parades because growing up in Communist Poland she was forced to attend the local military parade on May 1.
It took some time, but she now enjoys the New Haven St. Patrick's Day parade for the very much different atmosphere.

Cause the Irish have a shitty military.
Gonna go out on a limb here and guess that a parade is not what 4never had in mind on 5/1.

Agreed.
I've been re-watching The World at War documentary from the BBC. Parades are propaganda. Occasionally, they're celebrations but even those end up with local leaders from politics and business taking part.

Chicago's Thanksgiving Day Parade does not allow politicians. It's a great parade. Met Danny Pudi there one year.

In a parade in the cool fire engine. Getting yelled at for not having candy to throw to kids. Good times.

Should have opened the firehose on them
Ha. Fun fact, fire engines, unless specifically designed to be some sort of riot control vehicle, cannot flow water while moving. So, while it is always a good laugh in the abstract to suggest spraying down rioters with water, it is a terrible idea in practice. You have about 4 minutes of water from one hose, you run out, and then you are a sitting duck for retaliation. With wet, angry people rushing at you, no water, no weapons, and stationary. Other than that....
Actually, for years prior to the recent tragedy in suburban Milwaukee, it had been a topic of discussion around the table and over a coffee/pop with police officers, how parades are very vulnerable soft targets. They still are. We had always assumed it would be some kind of terrorist attack.

On a side note, who would win in a fight between 60 7 year olds vs 7 60 year olds?
The answer is contingent upon the condition of the 60 year olds and how dirty they are willing to fight. And if they are wearing cups.

Have you seen some of the parades lately? Doc would blush.
No 'lately'. Mardi Gras parades have been like that for decades.

In your newfound free time, you can be the village people fireman.
Tempting. It would open up new vistas, to be sure. Heckuva conversation starter.
