Felix and Oscar.
One of the great shows. Klugman and Randall were brilliant. I was just thinking about the one where Oscar is teaching Felix how to umpire. Oscar does the safe sign, and Felix says, "Wow ... that's not unlike the wingspan of the California Condor." So funny.
Odd Couple had lots of sports stuff. Various athletes made cameos, and Cosell was on a couple of times.

Now your are talking. Few years ago, played the opening riffs from Mississippi Queen for my students and they never heard of the song, tough for teenagers. As time went on taught them Imaginary Western and I used a female to do the vocals. Imaginary Western is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded and Leslie West's guitar solos are one of the best as are Felix's vocals. West used a Les Paul Junior with a single pickup as opposed the regular Les Paul, and on Imaginary Western hiked up the "fuzz" when he played the two solos, close to the end and at the end. Solos are not fast, sort of slow but just amazing if you get the tone right. Very easy to teach if you have a decent guitar player. What a song and was written by Jack Bruce from Cream.
The tragic loss/homicide of Pappalardi is just an amazing story and died after producing Cream's albums. West died two years ago from a variety of illness and at one time had his leg amputated. Believe he moved to Wisconsin for awhile also. Opening riff for Miss. Queen is always in top 10 of all time in many minds and is a best song for those who have "Speeding ticket" playlists.
Thanks for the memories and sorry if I got off track in thread. Very surprised someone brought them up. Excellent.
Herman, thanks for the link. nyg, great story. I think Felix was trained in opera and music theory from the University of Michigan. IMO, the best version of Mississippi Queen was the Live from Randall's Island 1970 version. I am terrible at posting links here, but check it out if you get a chance. Video is unique and puts you right in the Vietnam era.
