Texas coming to town per Rothstein.
UCONN goes to Allen Fieldhouse (thought that might be us instead)

Hells bells, yeah.
So hosting Texas and Notre Dame, going to Wisconsin, 3 neutral games out of Chaminade/Gonzaga/Kansas/Purdue/Cuse/TN/UCLA, and most likely a road(?) Big 10 Challenge game? Presumably against one of the top Big 10 teams given we'll be one of the top Big East teams/preseason top 5 team?
Seems like Shaka/MU is taking my thoughts to heart and scheduling only Q1 games (well, maybe Q3 with WI and ND but...) in the non-con.

Not sure they'll be in the Gavitt Games this year
While I think we could have been the Kansas game, I think the Shaka bowl adds a lot more intrigue.
Host VCU and make it real interesting this year.

Depending on what Texas does in the portal, they do have two 5* players still coming to campus. Might be good to get them early
Oh my. I know some TU basketball fans whose heads would absolutely explode if they lose that game. They are convinced that Shaka is the worst coach on the planet and think this season is a fluke.

University of Texas is a no-ball knowing wasteland.

Ahh yes, the old season long fluke. Makes sense as MU had something like 27 buzzer beater wins. ::)
MU -6 vs the Longhorns is my early guess. I was worried about them this year but not next especially at home.
Houston XU a tasty one.
Nice. Looking forward to this game and the rest of our non-con.
Awesome! I figured Kansas wouldn't be possible, since we're both going to Maui. I was hoping for either Texas or Baylor but expected a road game. Sweet to get them at home!

The only one I have interacted with thinks it actually proved exactly what he felt about Shaka the whole time. Can recruit, can perform until March, will be upset early in the Tourney. Meanwhile, he leaves and Texas finally advances.

Oh yeah, good call on Kansas. I'm thrilled with the matchup. Hopefully we can sneak a buy game in there before this one to get the Maui hangover out of the way.

To be honest, Beard is a very good coach and brought in a lot of talent. Better than Shaka did (not a lot but better).
Shaka is in a better place where the player egos are not as big. I think TU gets players who are focused on getting their 5 months of college behind them as they go to the NBA (realistic or not). Win for MU and win for TU.

That was exactly what I thought when I read wades' post - Texas fans wouldn't consider this season a fluke, they would see it as confirmation.
Texas has an incoming freshman forward that I believe will be a top 5 pick next summer (Ron Holland)

Agreed. I think both parties are better off for Shaka having moved on. Shaka wasn't a good fit for UT, and UT wasn't a good fit for Shaka. Shaka is a perfect fit for Marquette. Hopefully he thinks Marquette is a perfect fit for him.
Is it likely that the Texas game would be after Maui, like in early December like the Baylor game last year?
Homecoming for Tyrese Hunter (if he comes back from the draft). There will be lots of family and friends in the stands

Lol Hear ya, should be a doozy!
Its UT-A, UT-Austin, like UW-M, UW-Madison. Enough TUs
Why are people referring to UT as TU?

Broeker says a road Gavitt game. Would love to see MSU again. Some unfinished business there.

Similar to Ohio State insisting on be called THE Ohio State, some Texas alums insist on it being called THE University of Texas. Some of their rivals respond by calling it A Texas University or TU for short.

Would think Marquette would get a "premier" opponent. Hope it's not Purdue again
Gotcha...thanks
Don't a lot of Big 12 schools actually do that though? University of Kansas goes by KU. University of Missouri goes by MU. University of Oklahoma goes by OU. Former Big 12 University of Nebraska goes by NU.
:)

I wouldn't mind a game @OSU- I really enjoyed Columbus and it would give me a solid reason to get back there for a second visit.
Traveling to face the Illini would be cool too, don't we owe them one since they came to Milwaukee?
Schedule is already pretty stacked so I'd be ok with a not top 5 B10 team on the road. You're right though, a game in East Lansing would be juicier.
Wish we'd play at Minnesota. Too bad they blow it big time

Illinois or Indiana could be fun. Would love to beat IU on the road to shut up my delusional IU friends.

Yes which is why Texas fans get all hot and bothered when you lump them in with the plebes

FTFY
The two teams that should be contractually obligated to play in Gavitt this year are Michigan State and Maryland, but Broeker threw cold water on MSU because of the Champions Classic/Maui scheduling. I'm guessing Michigan State is headed to Storrs.
I would guess Indiana and Nebraska, the two B10 teams that have played 5 times, won't be in this year. Purdue is also in Maui, so we most likely won't play them.
If I were placing bets, my guess would be...
- Most likely: Maryland (has to play, likely top-25 team)
- Next guess alternatives: Iowa, Northwestern, Rutgers
- Less likely alternatives: Ohio State, Penn State
Seems like it will be a decent program, so I ruled out the Minnesota types. Iowa, Northwestern, and Rutgers all had their last Gavitt game on the road, so they are due home games. In addition, all three have their rivalry games (ISU, DePaul, SHU) on the road next year, so they could use a prominent home game. Ohio State and Penn State are plausible but based on past Gavitt scheduling seem a bit less likely than the middle tier.
Big 12/Big East Battle:
Nov 30: Texas Tech at Butler, Creighton at Oklahoma St
Dec 1: UConn at Kansas, St John's at WVU, Houston at Xavier, Iowa St at DePaul
Dec 2: TCU at Georgetown
Dec 5: Texas at Marquette, Seton Hall at Baylor, Providence at Oklahoma, Nova at KState
