ESPN staffers have to be so confused. A 30 for 30 talked about the end of the Big East.

To be fair, this Big East isn't that Big East.
It's so much better.
Imagine dealing with Syracuse, Louisville, Pitt, Rutgers, USF in their current states. Sounds like a bunch of traveling all over the country to play Q2-Q3 games. Yuck.
All that and our values align. Best hoops conference in the country and anybody that disagrees is salty because they don't have the TV rights.

So did ESPN hitch their wagon to the wrong horse?
Actually they have beating the ACC into submission (and maybe dissolution) with the TV deal.
Will ESPN bid on the Big East next time around? I'd pay top dollar to see Val tell them to "suck it"

The Old Big East was better, but this one is dang good and as good as we can hope for. Cuse, Pitt, and Louisville wouldn't be what they are if they'd never left the Big East.
The Big Twelve has been the best conference in the country for a while. They lose OU and Texas soon, but they add Houston.

Filipowsk's a good player, but right now he's nothing more than a volume scorer.

Filipowski makes it official that he will return to Duke. But the domino effect: top 10 recruit Mackenzie Mgbako asks for his release.

Lunardi has us playing the winner of that play-in in Indianapolis as the 1 seed in the Midwest.

Yeah, it's crappy when a good team has a volume scorer return. Should Marquette be concerned our volume scorer appears to be returning?

That Indianapolis -> Detroit regional path looks really enticing for MU (and most Big Ten schools)

which one will scoopers be more afraid of? is it okay to discuss our second round opponent or is it still one game at a time preferred here on scoop?
When's the last time (not counting Hauser debacle) MU had this high of expectations going into a season? 1978?

I can't speak for others, but I had high expectations in 2013-14, 2012-13, 2011-12, 2007-08, 2003-04, 2002-03, 1982-83 and 1978-79, and probably a few other seasons.
If the only definition of "high expectations" is top 5-10, then maybe only 2002-03, but I'm an optimist so probably a couple others.

I mean if things hold and no one leaves we are a consensus top 5 team, and most of the ones I am seeing are top 3. I can't recall any MU team getting that much preseason hype in my lifetime (I am almost 40).

Why do you think they left given such high pre season expectations?
Early version of chat gpt failed to pick up on the irony they intended and they failed to check the letter closely enough. What was supposed to be light hearted sarcasm emerged as an ultimatum. Alas.

I'm 66 and I can remember a couple:
-- 1971, The Jim Chones team, probably would have challenged UCLA for the best team in the land. People knew we were loaded. But, Mr. Chones left for the NBA.
-- 1975, Another loaded team. What we did to the Russians in early November was legendary. We probably were the second best team in the land, but Indiana was undefeated and beat us in the Regional Final. The 1972 Dolphins of college basketball. Just about as obnoxious!
-- 1978, Except for Bo Ellis, most of our team was back. We had BT and Ulice to fill the Bo Hole. Sadly, our team fell apart against F**king Miami of Ohio. No "See You in St. Louis" for us that year.

With all the talk about great coaches and coaching matchups in the BE, barely a mention of the NCOY, Shaka. And I'm not complaining because the discussion was legit, just speaks to the depth of the BE.
