I have eaten a large slice of humble pie since our loss to the Irish and yes, I washed it down with a little of the Kool Aid I had left over from my season following the NY Giants...Some honest analysis of tonights game:
1. I will be there to root them on in the World's Most Famous Arena...all while paying $8.00 for a beer.
2. MSG has a way of becoming the sixth man for St. John's if they manage to stay with MU deep into the second half.
3. We will have our hands full if we have a let down game from last Sat's. stellar performance.
4. Our team should win this game at this point in the season...we are deeper and have started to come into our own...time to separate a bit from the BE pack.
5. I am sure Tyshawn Taylor (St. Anthony's) will be there to see what the road unis look like up close.
6. I would expect some of the locals (Burke, Cubillian, Hazel) to be hyped up to play well in the Garden before family and friends.
7. I expect Barro or Hayward to have a 20 point game for some reason.
8. If we rely on the outside jumper...we will be in for a long night...Gtown pounded these guys with penetration and outstanding havoc defense...I trust Coach Crean will follow the same game plan
I'm hoping for a big win for the Warriors tonight in my hometown.
What is their defensive approach - zone?
Perhaps Trevor will get some extra playing time in this one.
Attending training in Princeton NJ with several others, decided to go to MSG to see some games. Caught the train, got off at the station, decided to get a map so we would not look like tourists and locate the garden. Looking at the map realized we were in the bldg. They took the map back, laughed at us, we toured the facilitys and watched a double header. Was a major thrill at that time for a few cheesehead homies.
Now this was back in the 60's so dont laugh to much,
I'll be there tonight baby! Driving in from my client in the Poconos. Any suggestions on what lot to park in? Will it be obvious? Sounds like Stouts is the place to be before and after.
Once you cross over 9th Avenue, take any lot. I doubt they'll be too crowded. St. John's couldn't draw flies to a barbecue.
Just don't hand your keys to someone posing as MSG valet parking!!! Any lot East of 9th Ave is best. As for a place to go before or after, Stouts, Tir na Nog (Celtic), or Mustangs...Marquette fans should establish a permanent place by next month on their way to BE Championship!
I'd also recommend the Molly Wee Pub on 8th and 30th. Great steak sandwich, Guiness, and easy walking to MSG.
The Molly Wee Pub is a great call...days ago that place was a smoke filled dive with a fight a night! Gotta love gentrification.
For the Big East Tournament last year we went to a very pro-Marquette bar. I think it was named Conway's or Connely's? Looking back I don't remember the name. Does anyone know which bar I'm taking about.
Connoly's is a 4 bar chain on the island.
Beers were only $7.75 tonight..... and watered down.
At least we pulled out the victory ;D
