Good publicity. Not a lot of new info, but always enjoy reading Norlander regardless.
Thanks for sharing. Great article and I agree this is just the starting point of what Shaka can do at Marquette. Also, Marquette has always had great fans, many that were there every step of their lives and some that became apathetic, like me. But, make no mistake about it, Marquette folks love Marquette basketball and I can feel a sense of pride that everyone is feeling. This is a program that the entire city and state can be proud of.
On a sidebar, I was at a bar prior to the UConn game and a guy in his 60's was wearing a Wisconsin sweatshirt and asked the bartender if they were going to show the Marquette game on TV. I engaged with him and he was UW grad and he told me how can you not cheer for this team. I did not validation on the program, but it was great to hear that coming from a Badger.
Great article. THanks for posting.
Thanks for posting. On how long Shaka stays at Marquette: "...a decade or more." I hope so. What a great coach we have!
It's just absolutely incredible how things have changed in two years. All of this coverage is an amazing boost to the university.
We've had great support since Al built the program into a powerhouse. Even in the dark days of Dukiet, we still filled the MECCA and then had larger crowds at the BC. Compare this to how quickly Georgetown had apathy set in. We worried about apathy before it was a crisis and MU's leadership knew a change was needed. No one could've predicted it would have this magical.
I really don't want this season to end, even if we won the next six. It's been incredible.

This season won't end—we'll be talking about it for the next 25 years plus
Frenn's
That is the best line I have read this season and you are spot on.
shaka is one big ball of positive energy-who wouldn't want to be a part of that?
I've told all my friends...
Even if we go out vs. Vermont, I'm ok because this is Jay Wright, Mark Few, Tony Bennett stuff. Like them Shaka has built a foundation that will survive early round upsets and get us back there again and again for swings at the chip.
I really and truly believe we're building what those guys have built.
Let's roll.
Yo lensie with all due respect, we go out vs Vermont, I'm not good, however once I get over it, I will wake up knowing with Shaka we will be back. I think we have a really really good chance to do some damage NOW and we must take every bit of advantage of that. The matchups, the locations, the refs, health of team, etc etc. gotta go strong baby

Dr. 🚀,
I get it. I'd die if we lost but I do believe in my heart that we're next in line for Villanova, Gonzaga & Virginia. We're gonna be knocking on that door many times. And as those schools / coaches have taught us, knock enough & the door will open.
Believe me, I want & sort a think it'll open this year.
Saw a picture of Bo after we won the National Championship in 1977. It was one of the more famous photos showing Bo inside the rim.
All I could think of was:
Move over Bo. Here comes Shaka!!!

Plus I think Shaka could give Bo a challenge in the design department-love to see what Shaka could come up with for a new take on the bumble bee
