Title: I admire how Shaka talks about this history of the MUprogram
Post by: DavidBoone2inchesTaller on March 11, 2023, 08:29:43 PM
I really appreciate how Shaka talks about Marquette University, the history of the basketball program, and the City of Milwaukee on national television.

Frankly, I haven't seen an MU coach do it as well and so effortlessly since Al McGuire.

In no way am I comparing Shaka to Al. Shaka has a long way to go to be in that coaching category.

However, as an MU basketball fan for 46 years this is just an observation and something I really admire in Shaka.

Just another example of how much Shaka gets it and a perfect fit. We are a basketball school and one with a long, proud history. We are on this site because of our love of Marquette basketball and we understand the history of the program.

Shaka's words after the ND game were special to me because he was talking to us. There are a lot of people that love this program and hearing Shaka's words tonight and it felt great to hear it.

I agree with your analysis.  And as Goose has said, Shaka is probably the best hire at Marquette in the last 4 decades.  Or was it 5?  He is the face of the university and such a great representative of MU.  Shaka will soon be able to practically hand select who he wants to play for him at MU.

Loved hearing Casey Jacobson either during pregame or at the half say something to the effect of:  If I'm a high school basketball player, watching this team play, and listening to Shaka - I'd definitely want to go to Marquette.

It was incredible when Casey said that. Says everything you need to know about how far we have come with Shaka.

Especially because he's been pretty hard on us most of the year.
