Kolek
Joplin had himself a tournament.
OMax hands down. Best defensive game by a Warrior in recent memory.
Kolek- easy pick
Whoever guarded Boum. First team All BE and he went 0 for 9.
Omax had the best hustle play of the year under the boards with tip pass to Joplin to I believe go up 27. Demoralized X and all momentum to us.
But, Kolek wins.
Kolek, without a doubt.
Special mention to the defense on Boum by Mitchell, Jones and Jones.

Mitchell had an excellent game

I guess if you literally walk off the court with a trophy of your own, you are also SOTG
Tyler, but a huuuuge special mention for OMax!
Back to the norm for the past few weeks: Kolek SOTG & the BET.
Kolek. BEPOY. BETMOP. SOTG.
It has to be Kolek.
Tyler wins again lol. Phenomenal.....
It could be Jop, the BE 6th man of the year.
It could be OMax for sending Colby Jones back to Brimingham.
It could be Stevie for his usual hounding D and a scoring touch.
It could be Oso for his work on Nunge.
It could be Sean, who got a lot of cred on TV for his D, even though
it could be Kam, who I thought guarded Boum more than Sean.
It could be TKO, who many have called the maestro, BET MVP.
But it's none of them.
It's the real Maestro, Shaka Smart.
He put this team together. Only one (1) top 100 recruit. He got them to buy in, and believe in themselves and each other.
We have heard a lot about how much these kids enjoy plating with each other.
I thought (with no inside, or even outside, knowledge) that the BE coaches predicting us for 9th was logical.
The progression, the development, the improvement of TKO, Oso, OMax, and Kam was astounding - and I think the coach had a lot to do with it.
He has bought into the history of Marquette as a basketball school. He's a Wisconsinite.
I am not going to doubt him again.
Shaka for STOG.

Jop was terrific. They're especially hard to beat when he has it going
What a special group. A whole lot has to come together to get a team to play together so successfully. It is so rare to witness it on your favorite program/team.
Enjoy every moment.
How do you pick one player from a Team, I mean a Team of great players.
Congrats to Marquette and the fine image this Team and Coach project to the nation.
Al is smiling up there in a front row seat. Shaka's story is still being written and what a story it will become.
I expect this team will all come back next year. It is just too much fun to leave for any reason. And for Shaka, he has found a home where he has the flexibility to coach his way, get paid well and not have blue blood management pressuring him to recruit and coach by some other approach.
Last, the Blue and Gold lighting on the Empire State building tonight shows the respect NYC has for a Team from Milwuakee. If you can make it in NYC you can make it anywhere.
... and the show ain't over yet. Enjoy the moment and keep the fire burning. We love you all.
Can a coach get SOTG. Shaka hasn't gotten one all season.
Love the Shaka shout... if not it's Kolek ... but I'm going to vote omax who set the tempo deffensively. This game was all D
Lots of good choices. I say TK.
TK with 20 points, 8 boards, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Yes, Shaka deserves it but he'd get SotG every game if he were eligible.

Honorable mention to Jop and O-Max.

Agree with that shout out to OMax especially. Colby Jones has been a beast and OMax made him invisible. Like Hawkins last night. If there is an all tourney team, OMax should be on it.
Is there precedent for a head coach winning this award? Need to hear from the mods.
If not, let's set the precedent
All Tourney for Marquette were Kam, Kolek, and Jop.
Great defense by O-Max, Stevie, Chase and Sean. Huge buckets by Jop.
But the MOP and the BEPOY is the SOTG.
Kolek no question
Special mention to Stevie who devoured Souley Boum's soul

While we're considering setting new precedents, we could also consider a defensive player of the game shout-out alongside the SOTG. Have a feeling that lock down, violent defense is going to be a part of this team's brand going forward, so it could be good to start specifically recognizing standout effort on that end in addition to all around SOTG.
O. Max. Prosper. Well earned young man. Well earned.
Stevie "Off Night" Mitchell.
I submit one number:
1. That's Soule Boum's points
Tyler Kolek for his leadership and dominating play. He has returned the Warriors to be the best of the gold bloods who are far superior over the blue bloods.
