Front page story on TyKo this morning.  Great stuff worth a subscription.

Beat me to it; Hamilton with another excellent MU article.

Interesting bit about OMax in there. I thought OMax looked more confident and assertive in the last few games...that article makes it sound like maybe TyKo helped that along.

Absolutely.  O-Max asserted himself early in the SJU game.  If he can keep doing that, we become a much better and dangerous team.

Fine article by Brian Hamilton, who always does nice work on college basketball. Answers quite a few questions about Kolek that I hadn't seen answered previously -- including what he worked on last offseason, how his mind works, and how Shaka "found" him.

Like a lot of "artists," Kolek is sensitive and is his own worst critic, a person who often needs to get out of his own head to excel. He obviously has found his happy place at Marquette and, in particular, in Marquette's offense. I'm sure Shaka already knows this, but the article should be presented to any PG that MU recruits -- "This is what we can do for you if you join us at Marquette!"

In another thread, a few of us were having a discussion about Kolek seemingly improving his quickness from last season. I said I simply thought it was a matter of him being more confident and comfortable, resulting in him making quicker decisions and therefore appearing to be quicker. Shaka had a good quote in the article:

"His mind makes him quicker."

Says an awful lot about our program and what we're becoming!

Really nice job all the way around.

"His mind makes him quicker."

Great line and so true.  I think a great analogy is Greg Maddux.  He didn't have to throw upper 90s to beat guys.  He had supreme confidence to throw the right pitch.

Hey, I also took acting for non theater majors! No basketball players but a bunch of volleyball soccer etc. about half athletes. Good class, in that you don't have to write papers.

I was not a theater major but took several acting/theater classes as well. There were basketball players in my classes.

Fine Arts is one of the seven Liberal Arts. MU finished you like Michelangelo chiseled rough-hewn Italian marble.
