My wife and I head to NYC tomorrow morning via Amtrak- our 3rd BET trip. I will be wearing a MU scarf and a tan 3/4 length coat if you would like to say hello. My wife will be wearing a gold scarf.
I always enjoy chatting with MU fans of all ages and bring my 1969-1970 press booklet in one of my large coat pockets. In the 2019 BET, a group of MU students enjoyed reading it and photographed it extensively. It is chock full of info and some fantastic caricatures of the players from back then.
Will keep an eye out. Making the trip up from Texas!
Relatedly, anyone have any experience buying resale tickets? Deciding whether to buy now or wait until tomorrow before the first session games start (presume there will be more demand when those fans know they are advancing). Pretty brutal ticket prices ($200+ for upper levels) which I assume will only get worse for the Friday night game!
Snoop
Have fun and keep the team on track. A lot of work to be done over the next five weeks.

That's cool, ZFB rocks a 3/4 length coat too, but nothing underneath
I'm flying out of MSP tomorrow.
Marqhattan - I don't have tix for Thurs yet either. Might wait until after Butler / StJ. Should the Indy team pull it off, might be some StJ fans looking to unload. My plan could certainly backfire, though.
Will prob hit the pregame deal Thursday morning. Have to go to an 8p Broadway show that night... might be rough.

Good for ZFB, but believe me, everyone will be very happy to know that I will be wearing clothes under my coat, especially after I remove it. And before anyone says (whew!) "thanks Snoop", ...you're welcome.

Thanks! Crazy. Couldn't have imagined this while we headed out from the Miss St game
I came in today to visit with my eldest goddaughter. We are registered for the pregame, so might be there. In 2019 we went but it was really crowded so we went elsewhere.
Yeah if MU people are hanging in the team hotel bar, let us know. In 2019 they actually had a nice alumni reception at the team hotel and we lined the hallway as they headed to the team bus. Sadly I think Covid has ended that.

I wish they would bring it back. Even though it is only a moment for the fans and the team, it was fun being alongside of the team and cheering loudly as they headed to MSG.

I was at that send off too, prior to the crazy Seton Hall ejection game. The band played as well - really fun!
Fly out Thursday morning. Hoping no delays.
Will be there Thursday - Sunday!

Arriving Friday morning. I'm counting on all of you to cheer them on to a win Thursday.

Some band members are in line at Andrew's Diner. They have a free day today so they are heading out sightseeing.

I went ahead and bit the bullet this morning after I noticed an uptick in pricing (although could easily improve after the games today for the reason you mention). Will be in Section 210.
Dang I'm getting fired up! After moving away from NYC several years ago, I haven't seen MU live since the Syracuse game in DC. Really hoping we make it to Saturday this year!
Staying at HGI on 28th. Hope to be at Mustang Harry's later tonight. I'll be in either a dark tan MU baseball cap or Bent Paddle Brewing baseball cap. LFG!
I'll be there Friday in section 115. Likely will hit Mustang's before. I'll be wearing my hoopaloop costume.

I'm curious about the crowd dynamics tomorrow night. Obviously, UConn will be well-represented. But I'm thinking that pretty much everyone else there will be rooting for MU. People hate UConn -- for good reason. And there is the strange situation that BE Champion MU is going to be playing the role of the underdog. I would think fans of any of the other teams coming from from tonight's games would be rooting for MU. I hope so, anyway.

I hate playing the early game because the other teams' fans aren't necessarily all there from the start - impacts atmosphere a bit during the first half.
I expect a very hostile, very Uconn heavy crowd tomorrow based on what I witnessed tonight. It's a pretty loud and obnoxious bunch. Don't get me wrong - MU also very well represented - definitely more MU fans than I've seen at any other BET I've been to. But UConn just has such a large and proximately located fan base. It really showed today.
Looking for ONE ticket!
Heading up from Philadelphia on the train after work. Happy to purchase a ticket from your last-minute dropout!
Go MU!
$151 in StubHub now.
I'm in!
Got my ticket for tonight and now sitting on an extra one. Message me if interested and it's yours - will go to a good MUscoop home!
Noticeably missing on Scoop so far are BET attendee reports from last night. Me thinks there was a large amount of liquor consumed.

We stayed for the X/Creighton game and decided to save our bullets for today's pre and post game.
I can say that the atmosphere at the game was as good as any I've experienced. Great turnout from Marquette and nothing better than high five'ing fans throughout Midtown. All the other Big East fans I've spoken with have been highly complementary of the team, Shaka and the fans.
To those here in NYC - any good pre-game bar options with a Marquette presence (over flow from the official bar option)? Looking to ease into it a bit, earlier afternoon.
I'll give you one Dr B. MSG was electric. Prob 50% UConn fans. 25-30% MU with much of the field pulling for the good guys. UConn fans were loud but we held our own to the point it felt like a true neutral court matchup.
Was every bit of the atmosphere promised and maybe the most intense game I've witnessed.
Awesome! Keep the reports coming and enjoy this lifetime memory.
Former MU housemate and wife (also alum) driving in from Pittsburgh to attend
Really hope everyone (team and coaching staff most importantly, then those lucky enough to be in the building, and the rest of us at home) get to celebrate a BET Championship. Would be an awesome accomplishment heading into the main goal. Enjoy it!
Saw on MU Facebook there is a large contingent of MU fans flying out of Midway to NYC.
Just secured tickets for tonight. Will be in Section 118 this time (we were Section 119 last night just across from the band). Gotta love when the tickets get better and cheaper as the team advances through the tournament.
If anyone is posted up at a good spot with MU fans ahead of the game, let us know.
Let's do this!!
On Metro North train to NYC. Groups of Marquette fans getting on every station and we only just left Fairfield.
Love it.
Up by us last night in 226 it was nowhere near to a neutral crowd. UConn fans would break into their "Husky" cheer from time to time. I'd think tonight it should be pretty even. Plenty of X fans at our hotel.

Yes, I was in nearby 201. Lotta UCoNN ppl with their annoying chant.
"Lotta bark but that bite wasn't vicious"
Came across plenty of energetic MU fans on our walk to Mustang Harry's tonight. Too crowded so we ended up at some Irish bar around the corner.

Congrats to all those who made the trip to MSG and got to witness our alma mater make history. Way to bring it home, everybody!
Oh yea, what MU82 said!
The crowd was electric in that arena.
Taking a trip to one of these tournaments requires a leap of faith, and y'all made the entire Marquette nation proud.
We are all glad you guys got these memories of a lifetime.

Wow, you are up!!! Did you go to bed?
Wanted to say how awesome that environment was at MSG and how well MU folks showed out every night. I went to all 3 nights (bought floor tickets after tip-off each night for pennies on the dollar) and the UConn-MU game in particular was rocking from start to finish.
Last night ditto, even with the much less dramatic 2nd half than UConn game. Tons of fun. MU really represented well.
This weekend was a total blast! Went all 3 nights with bro, sis and family that are alums also. The MU energy in MSG started out good and built every night to a fantastic finale on Sat.
Also spent time at Mustang Harry's each night. Harry's atmosphere and energy was off the charts good. That staff really hustles for the customers. For those that attended, do you think that we've outgrown Mustang Harry's? It reminded me of walking thru MU bars in the late 70's on extremely crowded nights. I also went to overflow bars filled w MU alums in the area.
I've been fortunate enough to be able to go to the BET for all MU games in the past and as you all know, this one was special. Hopefully we go as far next year. I highly recommend it. What a city!
My wife and I had a great time at BET. An unexpected bonus had nothing to do with Marquette, but the VCU pep band held an impromptu performance in front of MSG on Friday morning. Wow, they are good! Maybe they were bird dogging for their team to get an invite to the BE. ;D The VCU Ram mascot mingled with the crowd that gathered quickly.
I chatted briefly with the director after they finished. He told me that he had talked to Shaka recently and that they stay in touch. No surprise. Shaka is the kind of guy who does not forget his friends. I told him that Marquette would be contacting him soon to switch schools. He got a good laugh out of that.
I was impressed with VCU's band and their fans back when they had that great NCAA run and played at the United Center.
There were some VCU fans at the Big East tourney, one specifically told us they had come to support Shaka.

Yes, Mustang Harry's does a fantastic job and they really hustle. But, yes, I think with MU's current trajectory, it's quite likely they've outgrown that venue. It is really, really crowded. On Saturday, we had a friend with us who is blind. We got there very early and they seated us right away, but when we finished dinner we wanted to free up the table so our waitress could get another group seated, and it was
really difficult to manage the crowd. We tried to stand with him as much out of the way as possible, but it wasn't easy -- there really weren't very many places out of the way. Navigating and hanging around with dense crowds is challenging for someone who is blind. That said, we
all loved it and the energy. This isn't a complaint. We would do it again in a heartbeat. But that venue is very crowded. One can assume that the crowds will get bigger in the future.
I had registered and paid for us to go to Mustang Harry's, I won't pre-register again. We tried to go Friday, it was way too crowded, we tried again both pre and post-game on Saturday, and it was way too jammed. Saturday evening we ended up at the Irish bar just down the street.
We did pick up some beads Saturday, they also had a table giving stuff away at the MSG entrance we used Saturday. I told them that I won't pre-register again, I basically got beads and a couple towels, we couldn't even get appetizers on Friday-Saturday we just didn't bother to even go in.
At the Irish bar we chatted with some Xavier fans who had also ditched their gathering site due to it being too jammed, one was a former player from the 70's. We all agreed that we need all our Jesuit Big East schools to do well in the NCAA's.

I can send beads and pompoms. MU always sends me stuff for game watching parties and the one thing that nobody has interest in is beads and pompoms. I have a box in basement full of both.
