His name seemed to come up a lot when folks were talking about transfers. Glad he didn't listen to the outside noise.

He's a joy to watch. No doubt he needs to get better on offense but what he does for the team defensively can't be matched.
Stevie can score, but with Kam, Joplin, Oso and Tyler, it is not his primary roll unless things stall with the others.

It is nice to see him get recognition. Rico, you can't take it seriously that some posters wanted others to start over Stevie. If you go back, some posters wanted.....
Sean to start over Tyler.
Joplin to start over OMax
Gold to start over Omax
Joplin to lose minutes to Ross.
Ross to start over Stevie
Kam to be benched because he was cold.
Shaka to be on the hot seat.
And that is just this 24-6 season. Scoop is not known for rational takes.
But again, it is nice to see Stevie get some national love.
I was definitely wrong about Stevie. He elevated his play the second half of the season. Still needs to overhaul his jumpshot in the offseason to become a better, more consistent shooter.
But he plays his role well. Our top perimeter defender. And most importantly, a winner.

I was definitely on the bus for Kolek to move to a 2 and for Sean to take over at the point during those first 2 games this year. Glad I was wrong.
Any update on Stevie's status for tonight? Any walking-boot sightings?

I love me some Stevie!!! However, your statement above is over-simplifying the issue. He's shooting 13% from three this year. His other offensive metrics aren't great. Here's a great breakdown:

His statement from March?
I felt going into the season that Stevie was key for a deep run in March. He is a perfect guy for this team, regardless if he gets 15 minutes or 30 minutes. I expected more improvement offensively and still hopeful that he provides a spark in 3-4 games by hitting some shots. Hopefully those games are in the NCAA and not against DePaul. He is an ideal college player for this team.
Stevie is our Tasmanian devil on defense. Hopefully Tas plays tonight.
I liked Field of 68's nickname best. Stevie "Off Night" Mitchell
Does anyone know his status on playing tonight?

Some Friar insider tweeted yesterday that Stevie was expected to play as well, while reporting that Carter and Floyd for Prov will be back.
Not sure what at all that guy knows about our team but its what he said

Same Friar guy now says Stevie is not playing: https://twitter.com/FriarsCapital/status/1737176759894724905
I am not putting to much stock into either tweet (playing or not playing)
Anyone see Stevie in any of these shots (https://x.com/MarquetteMBB/status/1737211386776654131?s=20)? Is that him working with TyKo, or is that one of the walk-ons? If it's him, what is the significance of the green shirt?
Did not see him in any of the pictures - That looks to be Jonah Lucas - 99% confidence level. On the other end of the floor another walk-on in green
Yeah Ive seen a lot of photos and no Stevie
Damn
I think Shaka wants Stevie to be healthy in March. Rushing back too soon could make his hamstring injury linger all season.

Doesn't he know that will get the team an F grade for not starting Stevie as expected!?
Hopefully some defensive lessons learned in the St Thomas game. Might need an excellent defensive performance from chase Ross which he's certainly capable of

Actually I have insider info that Shaka has been reading all the Scoop posts that say that Stevie shouldn't start and that he suxs , and Shaka has taken Scoop advice.

So does that mean it's actually an A for some? Or just a C for meeting expectations?

You can't really assume anything in College Basketball - is he gonna be resting Tyler against GTown or Depaul for the same reasons - 0 chance... March is never a guarantee even when it feels like its inevitable. I am sure March isnt the reason hes not starting tonight - More likely just not ready.

Anybody who's been dissing Stevie should think about how the last three halves have gone.
Stevie and Sean entered tonight 3 for 23 each.
Sean actually moved ahead of Stevie 3% with that make.
This team has no outside threats aside from the obvious 3 and that's what might cause them to struggle. Need the glue guys to be able to stick 3s.

This and rebounding are the glaring flaws on this team. They'll have to improve if they want a chance of going deep in March.
Somebody is going to have to step up from three point range. That was the O-Max role last year. There was a lot of talk about his loss for the defense. So far, it's been much more impactful on offense.
Pathetic showing. Mitchell wouldn't have helped much

Tonight was a pathetic display of effort and just mentally knowing basketball
But having Stevie would still help. Not just adding energy but defensively and with our rotations.
But yeah tonight was a low point. Complete waste of everyones time
From the post game radio interview it sounded like Stevie will still be awhile. Timeframe was something along the lines of "when he can be explosive without putting himself at risk."
While his shooting has been bad, he is such a willing cutter and that gets a few easy ones and opens stuff up for others.
Not sure how many of you watch the guy when he's off the ball. But he is calling everything out on defense. Those on the fly switches they make a lot of times Stevie sees it right away. The last two games you can see how much they miss his talk off the ball as much as his on-ball defense.
All the talk of being connected and relationships and all that... It can't fall apart when one guy gets hurt. The rest of em need to step it up.
