Title: Brian Wardle Love
Post by: Heisenberg on February 27, 2023, 11:05:20 AM
Wardle has Bradley on a 10-game winning streak, 23-8, and in first place in The Valley heading into this week's "Arch Madness" conference tournament.

Andy Katz is even giving him some love this week.

Wardle is one of my favorite MU players of all time.

As excited as I am about this year's team, I'm equally excited about Wardles's success in Peoria.

MU nation needs to send some love to one of own having such big success.

Go Braves!

Nice job by Bri-guy, but I can't say I'm "equally excited" about Bradley winning the MVC as I am about MU winning the BE.

Future Badgers Head Coach Brian Wardle.

I almost referred to him as "future Shaka successor" in my post, but I like this better lol

Should've got him when we could've.

Hope he's done well.  Hard to say I'm as excited about the Bradley Braves as I am about Marquette, given I've seen exactly 0:00 of Bradley basketball this year.  Or probably over the last 5 years.

Noon ball would be back and better than ever, though.

Should have been the choice over Shaka

Willie Wadum gave up his season tickets on that hire date.

Wardle was voted Missouri Valley coach of the year.

Should his wife log-on to Zilliow looking for homes in Madison?

Yes.  It would be a big win for Marquette

I'm kind of curious about his next move. If they win their tournament, it would be his 3rd bid at Bradley.

Would an A10 school be his next logical jump? Possibly Loyola? I'm not sure he'd get a P6 look. I guess DePaul could do worse than him.

I doubt Drew Valentine is in trouble yet at Loyola.

Depends on the A-10 job.  Not sure all of them are better than Bradley.  I think he could at least make DePaul competent but it's a low-ceiling hire

Galaxy Brain: SLU fires Travis Ford, hires Brian Wardle. Then SLU uses the newfound support from Marquette fans to fuel a move into the Big East right before the new media rights deal gets announced.

Solid.

Wouldn't that make Shaka nervous knowing his replacement is only 90 short miles away?  👀

Wouldn't hate to see Rienk Mast as a grad transfer to Marquette next year.

Dayton should hire him then.

I don't think we're going to be adding any transfers for next season.  The roster is pretty full.

RIP to Brian's Bradley Braves, who went down to Drake in the MVC tournament final today. Maybe we'll see them in the NIT?

They get an automatic invite to the NIT for winning their regular season conference title.

They get an automatic bid to the NIT by virtue of winning the Valley

Very nice. More basketball to come for Bradley. Would we take a Bradley NIT championship over a deep Marquette tournament run?

If Wardle wins the NIT, he should automatically get Shaka's job....

Please teal me you missed the teal, or this is dumbest question on scoop in a long time.

I have Bradley envy at the moment. He is always been my first choice to coach MU.

I am happy for Bradley, my father in law was Dean there for a period of time and my lovely bride has fond memories of Peoria.

A-10 is lateral. The top half of the MVC can ball.

but in terms of where you're traveling to its far and away the A10, Nashville (Belmont) and Chicago (UIC) are the only two interesting spots compared to DC, NYC, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Chicago. Even the histories of the programs make the A10 seem more prestigious since the MVC is a fraction of what it once was.

Waddle has AAC job written all over him.  Tulsa would have been perfect if it opened up this year instead of last

He could potentially double his salary in the A-10, so that's a bit of motivation.  Also, playing in a one-bid league has to be tough.  Not that the A-10 is often more than a one-bid league, but the chances are better that a good regular season gets recognized.

As far as fan base, etc., I'd actually say that Bradley is superior to most A-10 schools.

Unfortunately for Wardle, I don't think he gets considered for a job beyond a mid-major without a March Madness win.

If the right CUSA or American gig came up he may be in consideration. But he reportedly makes north of $500k, which is a decent salary in the MVC. He can be there for a long time if he wants.
