We had 15 offensive rebounds to Xaiver's 4
We win on a night where Kam and OMax score 12 points on 4 of 21 shooting.
We win on a night we go 5 of 22 from 3 point line.
Oso, the 50% FT shooter calmly sinks 2 FTs under 15 seconds left down 1.

And only 12-17 from the line - of course two of the makes came in serious crunch time.
And that's a couple of times Oso has been clutch from the FT line at the end of a game.
X outshot us 53% -38%.
Looking at the stats, MU cannot win this game.
Win Anyway.
We should add Souley Boum with two bone-headed turnovers in the last 25 seconds of the game...incredibly good fortune for us.

We forced 17 turnovers vs our 7 - that was the difference.

Turnovers will do that. X has 10 more than mu

What were the turnover numbers in the first half?

I agree with this analysis.
What a grind, but without our "A" game we prevailed. Thats why you play the full 40. Can't believe some of the posters on here,,,, 80-40 Xavier someone said early. And No Longer Warriors, just please go away. You never have anything intelligent to offer.

Yep, X with 10 more turnovers, AND 10 fewer Offensive Rebounds...and there you have it. This game was the epitome of Shaka's culture and mission to "Win anyway."

I think we had 5 TOs with 5-6 minutes left in the first half. Only 2 the rest of the way is outstanding.
Mitchell had 17 points, but also had six steals. That is an overwhelming stat.
Boum is a great player with almost Allen Iverson speed, but Mitchell forced him into 7 turnovers.
Those are crazy numbers

He wasn't surley at all! He very politely scored a ton of points.
F**k em
Winning this game by 1 might be a good thing.
X will stay a Q1 win.
Boat race em by 20 and they may get really knocked to the Q2 bubble
MU won a game they easily could have folded and lost. Serious kudos to the guys for getting the win. I don't care if they have their D game as long as they win. That was a great win for the program.

Yes.....even the few times we were up....didnt feel like it.
Up two.....boom down four.
Unbelievable win!
Xavier shot 70% from the field in the second half. Yet we still found a way to win. Amazing.
This win might end up being like a good loss late in the season. I think this gives them the confidence to step things up. Time to win March!!
Tonight also guaranteed that we will not be swept by a BE team this year.
When Kam was like 0-for-6, I said: "We need Kam to step it up. We can't survive a 2-for-15 game from him."
He finished 2-for-14 ... so no wonder we survived!
Crazy game. I was in a text thread with some MU buddies all night and they are the Muggsy kind (in a good way) who get all frustrated and nervous about every single thing. With about 2 minutes left, one of them says: "Why does Shaka love Prosper so much?" And then when Prosper got the tip, he said, only, "Oh, that's why. I love him now, too!"

Actually, this is first season since we joined the Big East that we have beaten every team in the conference at least once.

Elon, good teams find ways to win on off nights. This was a gutsy performance and a critical victory when things looked quite dicey.

Mitchell really stepped up tonight. Granted, Boum burned him a bunch of times, but his scoring kept us in the gane in the 1st half and he had at least 5 critical hustle plays on the glass and defensively. What pleased me most is he played with no hesitation. I felt overall we were really tight tonight and and never really had our flow.
I don't know if it's been discussed or not in the threads but the stat that jumps out at me, in light of our offensive woes, is we had 7 turnovers tonight.

I mean that's incredible if you think about the pace of the game and how seemingly out of sync we were with a lot of overdribbling.
17.9% eFG% differential (adv X) and we won. It's shocking. (And X had a better FT%, lol)
Obviously I understand why we won, but trying to wrap my mind around how unique it is for a -17.9% eFG% team to win is. Someone want to look it up?
Q is: how many times in the past 5 season has this occurred?

And I think we all knew we could win like this. I never worried about our defensive metrics bc it always seemed like this team had some dog in them. Tough shooting night? Character revealed. We can win a lot of ways.

The defensive metrics definitely don't line up with how I think this team is playing on defense. Definitely agree that a gritty win wasn't a shock. Definitely a huge boost for the team though to see that they can still win even when it felt like every bounce wasn't going their way. Pure heart with the win last night.

I said in another post that I believe defense and grit will be the trademark of this program in the future.

Before last night, teams that posted an eFG% under 42% while allowing opponents to put up an eFG% of 57%+ were 0-120 in Big East games since 2008.
Make that 1-121.
