Love it.
No risk it seems to me. Always good to have a guy who can defend multiple positions. To keep their entire roster is nice as well. Can he get in shape quickly?
5 second rounders for a guy that's a free agent at the end of the season. Wild.
Looks like 3 from the Bucks & 2 from the Pacers, with Jordan Nwora headed to Indy.

Not really. Much better than giving up a rotation player or a single 1st round pick.

Ya, 2nd round picks don't matter much, and if you for some reason find yourself needing one they are easy enough to acquire.

Good point on acquiring them. Teams will just sell them off pretty often.

Could we see him at the Xavier game?
Bucks have a home game the night before and are in Chicago the day after.

Kinda crazy that two of my favorite Marquette players will be playing for the hometown Bucks at the same time, a decade or more later.
How many other fan bases can say that right now?

Seriously, how do we make this happen? Does our AD contact Jae? Shaka? Just curious what is involved in getting things like this done.
Jae showed up at a game last year at the Fiserv...he sat a few rows in front of me. He's no stranger to the program. And Wes was at NMD last weekend. They'll probably both catch a game together.

I thought I should point out that Crowder was a 2nd round pick.
Quote from: wadesworld on February 09, 2023, 03:10:35 PM
Why?
The Bucks traded 2 first round picks for Jrue Holiday. Plus the rights for New Orleans to swap draft order on two others (2024-2027)
Plus the 2023 pick is headed to Houston for the rental of PJ Tucker.
With the veteran team and a Giannis, a future second rounder to the Bucks is worth about $400 in Kohl's cash.
They can try to keep filling the roster with vets (like Wesley) over the next few years.

I would say mid-to-late second round picks don't matter much. I think early second rounders are really valuable because you can get good talent without the dollar commitment.

A second round pick that has been on all 32 teams just about.
2nd round picks, the picks and the players, are available at a pretty easy price. If you have a guy you want you should have 0 issue trading them.

Well, they have one next year and 2 years after that. They just can't trade those ones.
But they offered their 2029 and Grayson for Bojan. So it really isn't that difficult for them to trade one.

Go to youtube and search for Marquette pray. Watch it and enjoy. When i see it it lifts my spirits. I have been around for 50 some years watching Warriors Basketball.. I have seen the posts recently about Boomer MU fans and fans today. I know the game has changed and I know MU has not been as successful as we were when we were an independent playing in a different day. Back in the day Marquette had a history of turning players into players who excelled in the NBA. Al found ballers in the New York neighborhoods where he grew up and convinced them to come and play for a team of rebels. It never stopped. You don't find a Wade out on the playground in Chicago and bring him to town everyday. Was he a MacDonald's All American. Of course not. What brought Jimmy and Jae and countless others to Marquette? There is always one common thread, one common bond. Play to represent and honor the university because you have been given the opportunity, and do everything you can to help yourself to be a better teammate and a better player. Beat Georgetown. Beat Xavier. Jae will be there. I guarantee it.

Knicks/Nova, but that'd be more like if Jae and Wes were playing for the Bulls.
They have Brunson and traded for Josh Hart, plus Arch until it came out he was headed to Portland in the same deal. Now add in hiring Jay Wright this summer...
Relatedly, the video of Brunson finding out they traded for Hart while at Nova for his jersey retirement is pretty cool. https://twitter.com/Capj1344/status/1623518897931538433?s=20&t=j4GCaxez45jrgyVttoB32w
Crowder and Shaka had a back and forth on twitter recently!
Hopefully maybe that means Jae is going to give a pregame hype speech to the team before the game Wednesday.
Jae will talk to the team. It's his home turf. Again. He will emphasize the importance of rebounding. Part of the strategy so far has been if you shoot well enough you can win because of the three. And if you don't get easy buckets on the break (which hasn't happened enough recently) you need to execute in the half court. Understand that Oso can't muscle in after a missed hook. And OMax is sitting out on the perimeter to draw a big out of the lane to facilitate Tyler and the slashes to the rim. It's a hard game. I really thought OMax would turn into Dennis Rodman and tear down tons of rebounds. Sorry. Jae will hopefully remind the team that each player has five fouls to give and they should knock some people down and grab some rebounds and get some put backs. Other teams do it. If a team like UConn shoots the lights out like the other night you can't counter that. But in the next 3 weeks some adjustments will be required. Finesse ball will not be enough because opponents will play bully ball. You have to use your fouls and knock people down. I wish Jae was playing because he would show the team how to get physical. All the way down the roster.

Wesley 37 years old and in the NBA. Wow, incredible. Amazing athlete.
How many mins will Crowder play? If you're Budenholzer would you start him at the 3 and play Middleton at the 2?
Or do you play Allen 25 mins at the 2 and also find minutes for Connaughton? Has Ingles done much?
I think I like Carter more than Budenholzer but I haven't watched the Bucks all that much.

I could see him playing 20-25 mins a game and perhaps starting as a glue guy if he can still shoot at a mid 30s clip from 3.

Depends on the matchup. They won't play him a lot of minutes to start his stint in Milwaukee. They had PJ resting for a while when they first got him, and PJ had actually played in the NBA that season.
Come Playoff time he'll play a lot. He can guard a wing or guard up a position, which the Bucks will need if teams are playing Brook/the drop coverage off the floor.
If Middleton is back to his old self (he's looked like it lately) they won't need Jae to be more than what PJ was in Milwaukee (grind defensively, crash the offensive glass hard when teams try to hide their worst guard defender on him).
Bucks now have a lot of roster versatility. Need offense? Play Jrue, Khris, Giannis and 2 of Joe/Grayson/Pat/Bobby/Brook. Need a big defensive lineup? Play Jrue, Khris (or Pat), Jae, Giannis, Brook. Small defensive lineup? Jrue, Pat, Khris, Jae, Giannis (which isn't even that small, just more switchable).
Jevon can shoot it. He's also like my size. Effective in the regular season, but total liability defensively when it matters. They'll add buyout guys who are more likely to get Playoff minutes.

There was a report that the Bucks went after Van Vleet. If Allen, Crowder, Connaughton, or others can make open threes it's possible they have enough? Every time I have seemingly watched their spot shooters they go brick city.

They're fine. They're a game back of the C's having had Middleton for like 10 games, Ingles for like 20 games, and having had Jrue and Giannis miss a handful of games. If they're healthy they'll have as good of a chance as anyone to win the title.
It seems that Patrick Beverly will get bought out... and the Bucks need a playoff ready backup guard. Imagine the possibilities:
First 5:
Brook, Giannis, Crowder, Middleton, Jrue
Second 5:
PBev,Ingles, Portis, Connoughton, Allen
By the way, I think Crowder gets most/all of Grayson Allen's minutes. Allen just doesn't play well under pressure and the D is not good enough. On offense Crowder is a good "above the break" 3 point shooter... probably better than Allen under pressure... and on D he's a substantial improvement. Middleton won't have to guard the other team's best wing on his dodgy knee.

I'd rather have Reggie Jackson, Will Barton, or Terrence Ross as a buyout. The Bucks have 2 spots. I'd think they'd look for shooting and big man depth.

Closing lineup of J'rue, Wes, Midds, Jae and Giannis is a "good luck scoring" to opposing offenses lineup
