I think it's Chase. Only guy who I thought brought it on both ends of the court. Only player who I think brought a B or better game.
Only other case is Kolek.
Yes.
Stevie.

Stevie was the stud of the only part of the game I want to remember. The last few seconds. He's my vote

Stevie.
Recency bias. But that possession was magnificent.
Is this the star or stud thread?
Chase.
No one played particularly well except Chase. Stevie was huge in that last defensive stand. But when it mattered most, Kolek came through again.
Tyler Kolek
Probably Kolek in reality, Chase is a good choice but I'll go with Ben Gold who I thought played hardest, smartest and most in control
Ref who blew final whistle.
Chase Ross
No stud of the game when they play like crap
Tyler, just like last time.
Chase was the only one who truly brought his A game, but obviously it's Kolek.
Chase Ross
Honorable Mention
Tyler Kolek
1) Defense won the game and Stevie won defensive honors.
2) Chase
3) TKo
4) Best to forget
Ross had a good game but SOTG should go to TK - better all-around game and bigger influence on the outcome.
Kolek... not really close.
No stud-
No one wanted it, no one deserves it.
Thank goodness Butler is so bad-
Kolek. Sure as hell not Kam.
TyKo.
Would have had a double double if everyone had shot their averages.
And he closed out the game.
Stevie, solely for the last minute of the game
we didn't lose but i'd treat this sotg like a loss and give it a pass for this game...if not give it to
CR as it may be the closest he gets to that honor this year-next year he's going to be in that column a few times
My wife and I were at the local NMD watching event and sitting pretty far from the TV as we socialized with other Charlotte-area Marquette folks. Had a real nice turnout, best in several years.
From where I was sitting, Ross appeared to have had a real nice game, with a good flow to his game and no real letdowns on either end. So he's my choice.
I also thought O-Max was good early and late offensively, and played decent D throughout. Looking at the stats, Kolek with 13 and 8, so obviously merits consideration. Can't imagine anyone else is a candidate.
I agree that no one played well enough to be sotg this time. A really ugly game. But, if anyone does deserve it, has to be either Stevie or Chase Ross. Congrats also to Ben Gold for the good minutes he provided. This was the worst they have played since Miss State.

True, Lenny.
I am the stud of the game. Had to give up my tickets to be in Madison, bleh, couldn't wear MU gear as my son is here for a soccer ID camp. Sat in Union South, giant tv, sound on, loved every minute of it. Well, not all of if, what a slog. And Stevie, I'll go with Stevie.
OMax. Defense won it and I think he was our best and most disruptive defender today that had a least a little offense. There were at least two times when Butler was getting some momentum that he ripped the ball out of a passing lane and started a break going the other way. On offense he didn't turn it over and got a few important buckets.
Kolek, Chase, and Stevie all have arguments as well.
In the first half, Omax essentially played no-help defense on Likosius. Likosius made one basket when MU was in transition recovery mode. In the second half, they started switching and not keeping OMax on the floor just to guard him. Likosius heated up. He scored one basket when OMax was guarding him, the drive that he scored over OMax and Oso.
Chase had the best game. It seemed the others didn't have their A game today.

Stevie
I wouldn't go SOTG for him, but I rewatched that final minute possession yesterday. Holy crap, just absolute NSFW level defense from Stevie. His ability to switch on to three consecutive ball-handlers was incredible. He is absolutely just as crucial to this team as any other member of the starting five.

I agree that Stevie is a big part of this team, and he plays his role very well. His last defensive stance was a clinic.
I don't know how Stevie got so up into their grills without fouling. And he didn't foul. Classic.
That said, Chase played some extra valuable bench minutes and seemed to get MU a big basket when the team needed it most.
stevie' defense right out of the book of mc-steel eyn'a?

Stevie is a better on-ball defender than McNeal was IMHO. Jerel was very good at anticipating passes and stepping in to passing lanes, and also at raking the ball away if opponents got too close to him with the dribble. Stevie excels at staying in front of his man (or several men, as he demonstrated Saturday) and will just dog his opponent into submission.

I dont think we appreciate Stevie as much as we should. Lotta opponents message boards talk about Stevie like many talked about b10 dpoy Morsell. How he just takes people out of the game.
He's a huge domino for us.

Not Safe For Work. Brew is making a joke that Stevie's defense is so good that it is pornographic.
Keep Kolek's pic up.
Chase Ross. That dunk was the offensive highlight of the week.

Great clip, I remember being impressed in real time but focusing on him it's even more impressive. It's like some new defensive paradigm where Stevie just always guards the ball. Our length at other positions deters skip passes so he never had to run too far to chase the ball.

If you're a coach you hope for a guy who can defend all five positions.
Shaka has a guy who can do it in one possession.
