Taking a look at the KPOM T-25, there are 4 teams with Elite O (and mediocre D):
MU (8) (O1; D 70)
Baylor (13) (O2; D93)
Zags (17) (O3; D90)
X (22) (O6; D97)
and 4 teams with Elite D (and mediocre O)
ISU (12) (O67; D7)
Auburn (16) (O61; D10)
Rutgers (20) (O126; D4)
BSU (25) (O90; D9)
I know which group I think will rack up more NCAAT wins...

The teams that play at a slower pace definitely have a smaller margin for error.
Well, best I can tell (feel free to correct), there has been a single match-up this season between those 4O and 4D teams, with ISU (at home) beating Baylor by 15.
Not so sure I'm as on-board with your analysis. Of course...Hilton magic and all...
National champion's adjusted tempo since the start of KenPom (most recent to oldest): 65, 213, 353, 225, 40, 274, 104, 254, 116, 150, 184, 229, 6, 109, 162, 194, 7, 75, 32, 15
Average: 140
A lot of high numbers in terms of tempo in the top 10 of KenPom each year. Basically the only team to have a tempo in the top 100 to win a national title in the past decade and a half are Kansas last year and UNC teams.
