1. Broke SHU's will.
2. If you force enough turnovers and get enough steals, rebounding no matta.
3. Kam wants back to back SOTG. I love his shot to the moon and back.
4. We have a new villain. Ndefo.
5. Seton Hall did a nice job on Kolek. MU did a nice job scoring anyway.
6. 4 guards and Oso at the 7 minute mark. OMax kept fouling and Joplin kept taking bad shots.
7. Less full court pressure, more double teams and traps.
8. Less Gold today than an episode of Oak Island. Didn't play until it was almost a 20 point lead.
9. This should help the old defensive ranking.
10. Enjoy the week off. You earned it.

Impressive game. Took away the pick and roll and we still ran them out of the building. Kolek and OMax didn't even play well, still ran them out of the building. Defense certainly traveled today. Moving Chase to Richards changed the game.
The improvements of Kam, Kolek, Oso, and Mitchell are all incredible. If Chase and Sean improve like that this offseason, look out.
Just laid the hammer down. That was fun.

What I liked is it seemed almost effortless by MU, there was really no stress put on them at all. Now they get a week off, they won't have to get on a plane again for over two weeks, with a soft part of their schedule coming up. Great teams go out on the road and beat down inferior opponents like MU did today, fun to see.
Rebounded well today. Imposed our will. Hall and their fans were scared and expected a loss.
Some people were worried what would happen if teams took away Kolek driving to his left.

Agreed. They were so confident before the game with those picks. What the F have they been watching this year?
26 turnovers is just crazy. Wonder what the BE record is for a game.
Only bad thing is MU had 17, believe 10 in second half. Omax and Joplin each had 4, so that almost half of them. Joplin also probably had his worst game, was 2 for10, with 1 for 8 from three and the four turnovers. Ross made up for Omax and Joplin today, he was outstanding.
Lappas said it twice the NBA scouts in the house to see players, one of which was Omax. Not a good showing at all by him, but the scouts got to see Oso and Kam Jones. NBA loves shooters and Kam had it going on. They probably made a note to themselves to keep an eye out for that Ross kid in the future.

Ross definitely has the explosiveness to play in the NBA. Can't wait to see him next year.
O-Max foul trouble, Joplin ice cold, a ton of turnovers, and a 4:30 minute scoring drought in the 2nd half.
Win on the road by 21 anyway. Damn this team is good.
SHU had won 4 in a row, came back from a 17 point deficit to beat a good UCONN team at home, and was only a 1.5 point underdog going into the game. Having 2 guys pick Seton Hall isn't some clueless pick going into the game. We proved them wrong but it's not some crazy MU hate.

I loved the moment after the game where Oso was having a talk with Gold. Everyone sees the playing time going down and down for Gold. You know he is hurting. Everyone knows we are going to need quality minutes from him in March. I thought it showed great leadership!

Winning trap games is how they get you
Wojo teams scored like 75/80+ on the regular, they just gave up 90.
There is nothing more refreshing in the style of play from the one era to the next than
1. how many less layups and dunks this coaches squads give up, and
2. how many more layups and dunks this coaches teams make.
Quite the refreshing change.

Generally sloppy game. Both defenses (especially ours) forced plenty of TOs, but lots of them were just horrible passes sailing over teammates' heads or dribbling into traffic. We played down to their level for a long, ugly stretch of the second half, but we were already up by 100.

Seton Hall plays a lot of ugly basketball. They're a terrible offensive team and have to win games with defense and slowing the tempo down. It's not pleasing to watch but has been what Shaheen Holloway has done as a head coach. His St. Peter's teams were not good offensively but solid on defense. They'll be a pain to play as long as he is there because it'll be ugly

Shaka's current offense was installed at Texas in 2021. That was his highest ranked offense of his Texas tenure, and also the first year Nevada came in. Pretty sure the offense is his, but I also think it's in the way Shaka lets him run it. Yes, in a Dave & Buster's interview last year Nevada was the main interview and he explained that he is mainly responsible for the offense and Shaka the defense. But obviously he mentioned that they make suggestions to each other. If this trajectory continues this year MU needs to open up the wallet, I think he might get offers.
He could, although he isn't an "assistant coach" likely because he doesn't want to recruit. I actually wonder if he might get looks by NBA teams.

Well one of those teams (PC) we played at home the second time - the difference between the two games is pretty much what home court is worth. The second (SH) is a team that is clearly inferior.

I would hypothesize that Seton Hall was sped up by our defensive intensity, pace, multiple efforts - that led to errant passes etc. It's a mental grind to be faced with the kind of on-ball defense/multiple effort defense we play.
It was truly a sight to behold though, seeing us completely rip the heart/soul out of a team on their home court that came into the game with momentum and optimism based on recent performance.

Yep, that was awesome!
IMO, they flat out were not going to lose yesterday. They played a very tough stretch and a loss yesterday would have been a bad way to end a good stretch of ball against very good teams. MU is far better than SH and I think they went in there to take care of business and then enjoy a week off. Not comparing this to the Al era, but his teams always took care of business. Win big, win small or win ugly it did/does not matter in a game like yesterday.

It's super small sample size, but our game scores per Torvik were better in the second games. 86 to 93 for Providence, 96 to 99 for SHU. And it doesn't just score better on wins, our 61 vs Chicago State was one of our three worst scores of the season.
Certainly two instances isn't enough to draw real conclusions, but it's better than trending in the other direction.
So right, Goose. There really was never 1 second yesterday that I thought losing was possible. That hasn't been the case in every game this season, but it's been the case in just about all of these "we're simply much better than that team" games -- and that's not as easy as it sounds.

big mistake for SH. And it was.
